New Irish Omaha Championship Announced

Galway Sees Inaugural Irish Omaha Championship in March

The EglintonThe first major Omaha poker event to be held in Ireland, the Irish Omaha Championship, is due to kick off on Mar. 4 and run for three days. This inaugural €1,100 buy-in event will be held in the same place as the Irish Poker Championship (IPC), the Eglinton casino in Galway.

On hearing about the event, IPC champ Padraig Parkinson said, “With the popularity of Omaha growing constantly the Irish poker calendar has been crying out for an event like this.”

He along with many other pros such as Marty Smyth, Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth, Jon “Skalie” Kalmar, and Paul Marrow intend on taking part this spring. Weekly satellites will begin in February at The Eglinton.

There will also be two hold’em side events with buy-ins of €250 and €150, plus a €1,000 heads-up tournament with registration capped at 16 players.
