Daniel NegreanuThe World Series of Poker Europe hits ESPN2 tonight at 11 p.m.. The first episode kicks things off with the inaugural Caesars Cup, a team event which sees Europe take America on for a battle of epic proportions.

Team America is made from the stuff of legends with the likes of Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Huck Seed, John Juanda, Jennifer Harman, Doyle Brunson, Barry Greenstein, and team captain Daniel Negreanu. However Team Europe is nothing to feel superior to as it features heavy weights Gus Hansen, Patrik Antonius, Peter Eastgate, Dario Minieri, Bertrand Grospellier, Ilari Sahamies, online qualifier John Harvey, and team captain Annette Obrestad.

The “best of seven” event has many intriguing formats. In the first episode, the team plays “doubles – alternate bet” – this means that the players are put in teams of two by their team captain, and they then must alternate with each other for different streets within the same hand. Up first is Ivey and Seed versus Antonius and Sahamies, and they are then followed by Hellmuth and Negreanu versus Grospellier and Harvey.

The event is wrapped up tomorrow night at 12 a.m. on ESPN2 in episode 2. The rest of ESPN’s schedule for the airing of the WSOP Europe is:
