Online Poker -- Ronald Grauer Takes Over Lead in OPOY Race

William “imahustla1” Givens (pictured right) held onto his lead for nearly three weeks for 2010 Online Player of the Year honors, but he’ll have to make up some ground after getting passed by two players on Wednesday. Givens was featured this week on Card Player TV’s The Online Zone and discussed his recent success.

Zurich, Switzerland’s Ronald “ronaldgrauer” Grauer has turned his consistent results this year into a stint at the top of the rankings. Grauer has already made an impressive 11 OPOY-qualifying cashes this year, including six final tables in rebuy tournaments and three final tables in the Nightly Hundred Grand. His biggest score thus far was $71,735 for a runner-up finish in the Sunday Brawl.

The other player to pass Givens was Brent “greener_tree” Belser, who has 10 cashes of his own. Most of his damage has been done on UB, where he plays as “GIT PAPER.” In event no. 8 of the UB Online Championship (UBOC), Belser took fourth place, banking $102,050. That same day, he finished second in the Sunday Mullgian for another $33,936.

The UBOC Main Event did some damage to the top 10 as well, vaulting champion Dave “doubledave22” D’Alesandro (pictured left) into fifth place and putting runner-up Lauren “SUPERMODL” Kling in eighth. D’Alesandro picked up $279,044 for the win and Kling settled for the second place prize of $163,244.

The rest of the top 10 is represented by Aditya “Intervention” Agarwal (fourth), antesvante (sixth), Kevin “ImaLuckSac” MacPhee (seventh), Ben “benba” Lamb (ninth) and Casey “bigdogpckt5s” Jarzabek (10th).

Players who fell out of the top 10 include Eric “AceQuad” Brix, Philipp “philbort” Gruissem, Niels “TheMiltMan” Rikhof and Jonathan “IveGotToejam” Wein.
