Jeff Madsen Wins Borgata Winter Open

Jeff Madsen won the $3,500 no-limit hold’em championship at the Borgata Winter Open to take home $625,006 in prize money and 1,440 Card Player Player of the Year points. Madsen defeated a field of 766 players and he now sits in 12th place on the leader board. Sirous Jamshidi finished in second place at the Borgata and he took home $367,794 and 1,200 points (19th place).

Dwyte Pilgrim and Sorel Mizzi Keep Pace with the Top 10

Two notable professionals near the top of the POY standings have been able to keep pace with the top 10 this past week by scoring smaller cashes at final tables. Dwyte Pilgrim cashed in sixth place at the World Series of Poker Circuit event in Tunica. He was awarded $26,985 and 160 points and he is currently in seventh place (1,720 points). It was his fourth final-table appearance of the young year.

Sorel Mizzi made his second and third final tables of 2010 at the L.A. Poker Classic. Mizzi took second place in a $500 no-limit hold’em double stack event to win $20,530 and 270 points, and two days later he cashed in sixth place in a $1,000 no-limit hold’em event to add another $9,210 and 168 points to his totals. Mizzi now holds 1,718 points and sits in eight place in the standings, just two points behind Pilgrim.
