European Poker Tour -- Berlin Day 1B

The 2010 EPT Stop in Germany is the Largest Ever with 945 Players

Jude AinsworthDay 1B at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Berlin €5,000 no-limit hold’em main event has come to a close and the second day of play attracted 557 players. That brings the total for the event up to a huge field size of 945 players. The turnout grew by more than 41 percent from the EPT stop in Germany last year that attracted 667 players. The total prize pool for the event this year is €4,725,000 and the winner will walk away with a top prize worth €1,000,000. The top 144 players will all walk away with prize money. When the final bell tolled tonight 291 players survived. They will join the 202 payers that made it through on day 1A and the day 2 starting field size will be 493. The chip leader at the end of the night on day 1B was To Tu Tuan, who ended play with 212,600. Rounding out the top 10 in chips were Team PokerStars pros Jude Ainsworth (138,100) pictured above right, Florian Langmann (134,000), and William Thorson (133,100). Other notables who made it to the second day of play from day 1B were Team PokerSars pros Johannes Strassmann, Noah Boeken, Marcel Luske, Julian Thew, Thierry Van Den Berg, Boris Becker, and Chad Brown, Max Pescatori, Michael Martin, Peter Hedlund, and Antoine Saout.

Jude Ainsworth raised from early position and the big blind reraised 4,250 more. Ainsworth put in another raise and his opponent made the call. The flop was dealt 8Diamond Suit3Club Suit3Spade Suit and both players checked.

The turn was dealt 9Diamond Suit and the big blind checked. Ainsworth bet 8,000 and his opponent made the call. The river fell QSpade Suit and the big blind checked. Ainsworth moved all in and his opponent made the all-in call for 13,250. Ainsworth flipped over two red aces and his opponent mucked before heading to the rail. Ainsworth grew his stack to 85,000 after the hand.
