Dwyte Pilgrim Takes the Lead on Day 2 and Carlos Mortensen is Still in the Hunt

Dwyte PilgrimDay 2 at the World Poker Tour Hollywood Poker Open welcomed back 103 players to the felt. By the end of the night, just 38 players remained. The second day of the tournament was a tough one for the chip leaders from the previous day. Eric Froehlich entered play with 149,400, and he was trailed closely by Faraz Jaka, who held 144,225. By the end of the night, both players had been eliminated from the tournament.

The new chip leader is Dwyte Pilgrim (pictured right), who holds 313,900. Pilgrim has won a World Series of Poker Circuit event and he is looking to win his first WPT title in Indiana. He is followed by Frank Calo (260,000), and notables rounding out the top 10 in chips are recent L.A. Poker Classic final tablist Gevork Kasabyan (182,100), Todd Terry (180,000), and former world champion Carlos Mortensen (159,800). Mortensen doubled up multiple times during the late stages of the day to retain his spot in the top 10.

Other notables that are still alive in the field include Chris Bell (129,200), William Reynolds (123,700), Joe Serock (122,200), Keven Stammen (102,800), Steven Levy (57,900), Erick Lindgren (48,000), Tyler Reiman (44,800), and Shawn Buchanan (31,700).

A total of 143 players bought in to the $10,000 no-limit hold’em event and the total prize pool is $1,331,616. The top 12 players will walk away with prize money and the final table will take place on Wednesday, March 25. Check back at the end of play each night during the event for a summary of the action. Carlos Mortensen raised from the cutoff and Mike Mustafa made the call on the button. Tyler Reiman reraised from the big blind and both his opponents made the call. The flop was dealt 10Diamond Suit 9Diamond Suit 7Club Suit and Reiman checked. Mortensen moved all in for 27,000 and Mustafa made the call. Reiman mucked and the two live players flipped over their cards:
