North American Poker Tour Mohegan Sun -- High Roller Bounty Shootout Day 1

Six Advanced to Tomorrow’s Final Table from the Initial 35 Players

Team PokerStars pro Jason MercierThe $25,000 high roller bounty shootout at the PokerStars North America Poker Tour Mohegan Sun tournament series began at noon today in Connecticut. There were 35 players that entered the prestigious event that is being filmed for ESPN 2. The tournament began with six players at each table (one table started with five players) and it didn’t take long to decide the final table of six. Here were the table draws when things began:

Players were awarded $5,000 for each opponent they knocked out of the tournament and the winner at each table won an additional $60,000 (the winner of table 6 received $50,000). The survivors will take new seats at the final table tomorrow and play down to one champion that will walk away with the top prize worth $350,000. The top bounty hunter in this event will receive free entry in the next NAPT high roller bounty shootout that takes place in the future.

Shawn Buchanan, Canada – $80,000 ($60,000 table; $20,000 bounties)
Faraz Jaka, USA – $75,000 ($60,000 table; $15,000 bounties)
Jason Mercier, Team PokerStars USA – $75,000 ($60,000 table; $15,000 bounties)
Sam Stein, USA – $75,000 ($60,000 table; $15,000 bounties)
Luis Vazquez, USA – $70,000 ($50,000 table; $20,000 bounties)
Matt Glantz, USA – $70,000 ($60,000 table; $10,000 bounties)

The favorite to win tomorrow from an experience stand point is Faraz Jaka, who also made the final table of the high roller bounty event at the NAPT Venetian tour stop last month.
