Discussion Point:
What’s your Play with 99 facing an All-in?
A highlight of the video comes at the 2:50 mark, when Jeremiah reviews a tough decision with pocket nines. At 10-20 blinds, Jeremiah opened to 60 chips with a stack of 3,000. The table folded to the player in the highjack seat, who called the raise. The player in the small blind called, as well. They took a flop three-handed.
Stacks:
Jeremiah: 2,940
Hijack: 2,622
Small blind: 6,010
The flop came 5 8 3 — giving Jeremiah an overpair.
The small blind led out for 80 chips into a pot of 200. Jeremiah didn’t recognize this player and figured him to be a weaker recreational player. Jeremiah opted to raise his 9-9 for value and made it 260 chips to go. The hijack folded, and action returned to the small blind.
After 1-2 seconds, the small blind shoved all-in for his 6,000 chip stack!
What do you think Jeremiah should do with his 9-9? Do you think his opponent is bluffing? Do you think 9-9 is ahead? Should we call? Fold?
