PokerStars EPT Grand Final -- High Roller Day 2

Day 2 of the €25,000 no-limit hold’em high roller event at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo took place today, and a field of 41 players returned from the initial 113. The players also negotiated a small change in payout structure today to ensure that the top 11 got paid to speed up play. This allowed Antoine Saout (11th place — €25,000), Javier Garcia (10th place — €49,450), and Luke Schawrtz (€49,450) to all make the money before the end of play.

The final eight return tomorrow to play down to one champion that will walk away with €965,000 (adjusted final-table prize pool below). The chip leader heading into the final table is Dori Yacoub with 1,199,000. Current Card Player Player of the Year leader Tom Marchese (pictured above right) is close behind with 909,000, and American professional Allen Bari rounds out the top three with 835,000. Other notables at the final table include Tobias Reinkemeier, Olivier Busquet, and Sorel Mizzi. Saout’s Loss is Marchese’s Gain

Antoine Saout bet 33,000 from the small blind on a 9 9 8 flop and Thomas Marchese moved all in from the big blind. Saout made the call and they flipped over their cards:

Marchese: 8 7

Turn and River: 6 6

Marchese doubled up to 450,000 after the hand and Saout was left with just 47,000, which he shoved all in preflop on the next hand. Marchese reraised to 95,000 on top and Sorel Mizzi pondered a call before mucking his hand. The two live players then flipped over their cards:

Saout was eliminated on the hand in 11th place and the took home €25,000 in prize money.
