Students Prepare Poker Faces for Oxford Cup IXPros and Students Come Together Today for Main Event of Ninth Oxford Cup |

The Oxford Cup IX main event takes place today at the University Club in Oxford. The one-day £20 rebuy event is expected to see a prize pool in excess of £10,000.
This year sees added value from the event’s sponsor BlackBeltPoker.
Some of the site’s players and ambassadors will be mixing it up with the students including Neil Channing, Nik Persaud, Adam Latimer, Rory Campbell, and Jerome Bradpiece. To add a nice twist, BlackBeltPoker has put a $100 bounty on each of their heads.
Other known players getting in on the action are Paul Jackson, Al Alvarez, former winner Barry Styles, and reigning champion Mark Scofield. Ray Houghton will be the event’s special guest tournament director.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. and anyone who wants to take part can simply turn up and buy in. The event has never seen a pro or Oxford University student champion. Perhaps history will be made later today.
Last year Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott made a great impact on the students and the event with demonstrations of his various talents.
