Fred Berger won the World Series of Poker Circuit event at the Harrah’s in New Orleans this past week to take home a top prize worth $197,584, but it was runner-up Mike Beasley who benefited the most from the event in the Card Player Player of the Year standings. Beasley won $119,296 in prize money to bring his 2010 earnings up to $687,045, and he also scored 640 POY points to bring his 2010 total up to 3,080 points, which is good for fourth place on the leader board.
His latest cash helped Beasley become the fifth player this year to win at least 3,000 points. The two other POY scores for Beasley came when he finished in second place at the PokerStars North American Poker Tour Mohegan Sun main event to take home 1,600 points, and when he won a $1,000 preliminary no-limit hold’em event at the Borgata Winter Open to take home 960 points.
