France’s state-run company betting operator Francaise des Jeux and private casino group Lucien Barriere have announced details of their new joint venture online poker room, BarrierePoker.fr.
The companies have invested €8 million each and will get a 43.84 percent stake while the remaining 12.3 percent will be taken up by Online Gaming 3D.
The launch of BarrierePoker.fr is scheduled for September and the company aims to be among the top five online poker operators in the country and to break even after after three to four years trading.
Last week online poker operator Winamax received a €12 million cash injection from a private equity firm
France’s online gaming market is being liberalised with the old state-run system being dismantled and licences issued to applicants who meet the government’s criteria.
