Poker fundraiser for Great Ormond Street Children's HospitalA new poker charity fundraising group, Raise The Stakes will host its first poker dinner tonight, Sept. 30, in The Red Room, Les Ambassadeurs Club, London.

The group has been established to raise much needed funds for London’s famous Great Ormond Street Hospital and the event tonight features actress Barbara Windsor, chef Antonio Carluccio, and TV presenter Hardeep Singh Koli.

The fundraising group will be chaired by Richard Glynn, chief executive of Ladbrokes plc who has a long relationship with the world renowned medical institution.

“Having stepped down recently after 10 years as a Special Trustee of this great institution,” he said, “I am proud to be chairing the Raising the Stakes appeal and working with some outstanding individuals and companies from across the gambling and gaming industry.

“Great Ormond Street is a remarkable institution and I hope this new initiative will have a real impact on the lives of thousands of children who are treated at the hospital each year.”

The group plans to raise £500,000 initially for a new high dependency bay in the Hospital’s Cardiac Critical Care Unit to provide life saving care for young patients.
