In this issue, we sat down with poker phenom David Baker to talk about his incredible success during the 2010 WSOP, including how a newfound appreciation for mixed games translated into success on the poker world’s most important stage.
“This is going to sound cocky, but I knew I’d eventually win a bracelet,” said Baker. “It’s not like I’m getting tired of poker anytime soon, so I knew that eventually, all of the stars would align and I’d get mine. It was just a matter of variance swinging back in the other direction.”
The WSOP bracelet he’s referring to is the $10,000 no-limit deuce-to-seven bracelet that he won this year.
“It’s a game that hasn’t been picked apart or really deeply analyzed as much as hold’em has,” Baker said. “Sure, the greats in the game know what they are doing, but I wanted to make sure I positioned myself to compete on their level.”
