On the morning of Wednesday Sept. 22, the PokerStars 50-billionth hand milestone was reached. The winner of the hand walked away with $56,140 at $0.02-$0.05 no-limit hold’em.
Unknown online player tbvle held off five opponents to win the massive bonus. In addition to the pot of $26 and money earned from VIP Player Points (VPP) accumulated leading up to the milestone hand, tbvle was rewarded with an extra $50,000 from the online poker site.
When it was announced that the 50-billion hand was about to be dealt, the action on the table was frozen to allow the roughly 220,000 players online at the time to watch.
Since the winner of the milestone hand was set to receive the enormous bonus, naturally all six players at table Ornamenta were all in preflop. Tbvle tabled the Q Q, and the pocket pair held to rake in $56,140.
The other players at the table all earned about $3,000 from VPPs accumulated at the table over the previous 50 hands. In addition, everyone dealt into the hand received an entry to the $5,200 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) main event on Sept. 26.
All together, nearly $1 million was awarded during the September promotion.
