Aidan Cooney, Nicky Power, and Marty SmythThis year’s Boylepoker.com International Poker Open will prove an additional challenge for one man, Irish TV presenter Aidan Cooney, as he aims to raise €10,000 for a charity working with blindness in developing countires.

Cooney, the well known presenter of Ireland AMon TV3, will start his challenge before the first hand is dealt with €500 for ORBIS International and will collect a further €1,500 if he makes day 2 of Europe’s largest poker tournament.

If he goes all the way to the final table he’ll collect €10,000. “Every little helps when it comes to a charity like ORBIS and I’m delighted to have €500 bagged already,” he said, “but it’s safe to say reaching the €10,000 mark will prove a little tougher!”

“Getting the €10,000 would be amazing but if I reach day 2, Boylepoker have guaranteed €2,000 for my charity. I think this should be my first goal, considering the last time I played cards was when I was a child!”

Online qualification is in full swing for the €180 + €20 buy-in Boylepoker.com International Poker Open taking place from October 15 to 17, 2010 at the Regency Hotel, Dublin.

The event has an estimated prize pool of €250,000 with €20,000 added by Boylepoker.com.
