Marcel Bjerkmann Wins Belgian Open Poker Championship

Norwegian Takes Title in 2010 BOPC Main Event

The 2010 Belgian Open Poker Championship was won by Norwegian Marcel Bjerkmann.

The €1,500 + €200 buy-in main event in Namur, Belgium attracted a total of 609 players, which created a prize pool of €848,946.

Sixty-three players were paid but those who made it to the business end were:

1: Marcel Bjerkmann — €200,030
2: Nicolas Cardyn — €135,470
3: Bram Staes — €129,179
4: Jonas T’Syen — €57,750
5: Paul Berende — €37,750
6: Martin Servais — €28,750
7: Jacques Bailly — €19,750
8: Philip Meulyzer — €14,750
9: Manu Murgia — €10,900

A deal was made however which resulted in the heads-up duo receiving higher payouts. Bjerkmann took home €225,000 for topping the field and runner-up Cardyn received €150,929, while third-place finisher settled for €88,750.

Last year, local player Antonio Guida took home €256,082 after topping an 817-strong field.
