Jon "PearlJammer" Turner Makes Sick Read, Busts Anyway
Mar 17, '09
Stanley Wasserkug, Chris Amaral, Jimmy Fricke and Jon Turner see a flop of 1062. Wasserkug bets 3,000 and Chris Amaral moves all in for 28,000.
Jimmy Fricke calls over a tournament reporter to show him his hand and then mucks. Turner sees Fricke's actions and decides to call all in for about 16,000 in chips.
The action is back on Wasserkug, who would be playing for most of his stack. Wasserkug calls and before any of the cards are turned over, Turner slams the table and explaines his reasoning.
Turner states that he knew Amaral was pushing with a spade draw and decided to call all in with 99, knowing Fricke had folded a hand like 98 (Fricke actually held 97). He never actually thought that Wasserkug would call all in with a ten.
Sure enough, Amaral shows KJ and Wasserkug is ahead with J10. The turn is the Q and Turner is drawing dead. Amaral picks up a straight draw as well and hits it when the river comes in the form of the A.
Turner is eliminated, Wasserkug is crippled and Amaral takes a huge pot.
