Gerasimov made the call and the 6 fell on the turn. Both players checked and the 10 came on the river. Gerasimov checked one more time and his opponent took a stab with 1,250. Gerasimov made the call and his opponent showed 76 for a pair of sixes. Gerasimov tabled AJ for second pair and he took the pot. He was at 19,500. The turn offered some hope as it brought the Q, but the river was the J, filling up Glantz and knocking Ramdin out of the tournament. Caro Misses Mike Caro and two other players limped preflop to see 542 come on the flop. A player bet 400 and Caro was the only caller. The turn was the K and the player bet 1,400. Caro called again and the river was the 4. Both players checked and Caro showed A7 for a busted club draw while the other player showed K9 for top pair. Caro was at 25,000. Robl Kicks Better Picking up the action on a flop of A64, the small blind checked and Andrew Robl bet 1,800. The small blind called and the 7 fell on the turn. Both players checked and the river was the 2. Robl bet 6,000 and his opponent made the call. Robl then tabled AQ for top pair. His opponent flashed A10 for an inferior kicker and Robl took in the pot. He was at 37,000. Martijn Schirp — 2,210,000 Adam Schoenfeld Adam Schoenfeld Eliminated Adam Schoenfeld raised all in from the big blind with the KJ after Thomas Declerck opened to 24,000. Unfortunately for Schoenfeld, he ran into the AA of Declerck. The flop came AK3 and Schoenfeld was in deep trouble. The 8 on the turn had Schoenfeld drawing dead and he went to the rail. Declerck was up to 575,000 after the hand. Anders Taylor Eliminated Manuel Davidian bet 24,000 from middle position. Anders Taylor moved all in for 121,000. Davidian called and exposed the A9 and was ahead of the KJ of Taylor. The flop was disastrous for Taylor as it came A99. The turn offered no outs and he was eliminated on an inconsequential river card. Adam Etter Doubles Up Adam Etter moved all in preflop for 270,000 with the AK and was called by the AQ of Filippo Candio. The board ran out J9589 and Etter doubled to 565,000. Candio was down to 480,000. Frederik Jensen Eliminated Over at the feature table, Frederik Jensen moved all in for 195,000 preflop and was called by Tomas MacNamara. Jensen tabled the AA and was in great shape versus the 99 of MacNamara. The flop came Q54 and looked good for Jensen. However, the 9 on the turn and 9 on the river gave Jensen’s opponent quads. Jensen was eliminated. MacNamara was up to 745,000 after the hand. Allie Prescott Eliminated Greg Schaefer bet 25,000. Allie Prescott raised to 65,000 from the cutoff. Schaefer four-bet to 205,000. Prescott tanked before finally moving all in. Schaefer called all in for over 300,000 more. Prescott tabled the KK and was in good shape against the AK of Schaefer. However, the board ran out AJ55Q. Prescott was down to just 50,000 after the hand and was eliminated shortly thereafter. Cole South Crippled, Eliminated Cole South made a raise preflop and his opponent moved all-in for his last 125,000. After South got a count, he opted to make the call. South showed AQ and he was going to need help against the AK of his opponent. The flop gave South some more hope as it came 448, giving him a flush draw, along with some chop outs, along with his queen. The turn was the 5 and the river was the 10s and South dropped to just 70,000. South was eliminated a few orbits later when his K-Q failed to improve against his opponent’s pocket queens. Brikis Wins a Flip and Eliminates an Opponent Josh Brikis raised to 30,000 from early position and got a call from the player directly to his left. A player from middle position then moved all in for 169,000 more. Brikis then made a re-raise to isolate the all-in player and the other player got out of the way. Brikis tabled QQ and was racing against his opponent’s AK. “I didn’t think you had a hand that good,” said Brikis. The board ran out 10810102 and Brikis’ queens took the pot and Brikis climbed 1,700,000. Grinder Makes Middle Pair Work The board read AK2Q on the turn and there was already close to 100,000 in the middle of the table. Michael Mizrachi checked over to his opponent, who bet 53,000. Mizrachi made the call and they saw the 6 fall on the river. Both players checked and Mizrachi announced that he had a king as he showed the KJ. His opponent was furious as he slammed his cards into the muck face down and Mizrachi took the pot and climbed to 575,000. Clock Gets Called and Thorson Wins The final board read A4K96 and a player checked over to William Thorson, who bet 125,000, which was about the size of the pot. This sent the player deep into the tank for several minutes. As a floorman was walking by, another player at the table grabbed the floor’s attention and opted to call the clock. The countdown got all the way down under 10 seconds before the other player folded. “I couldn’t put you on a hand,” the player said. Thorson just gave him a wry smile as he stacked his newly acquired chips. Level 1 Update: Bill Gazes Eliminated With Full HouseMay 30, '09 Blinds: 25-25 Players Remaining: 2970 out of 3,000 Notable Eliminations: Bill Gazes Big Hands: Bill Gazes Eliminated With a Full House Seat 7 raised to 75 pre-flop and Bill Gazes called on the button, along with two other players. The flop came 83A, and action was checked to seat 2 who bet 125. Gazes raised to 625 and seat 1 called, while seat 2 folded. The turn brought the A, and seat 1 checked to Gazes. Gazes quickly fired out the same 625 bet that was instantly called by seat 1. The 10 fell on the river and seat 1 instantly moved all-in and was quickly called by Gazes. Seat one turned over the A8 for a turned full house. Gazes exposed a smaller full house with the 33. Gazes was eliminated in the first half hour of play. Adam Schoenfeld Loses Small Pot On a board of 9232, the action was checked to Adam Schoenfeld who bet 100. A player in early position min-raised Schoenfeld to 200 and he called quickly. The river brought the Q and seat three fired out 325. Schoenfeld quickly folded. Jean-Robert Bellande Off to a Slow Start On a board of 1095J, Jean-Robert Bellande bets 200 and the player in seat 7 calls. The river is the 10, and this time seat 7 bets 500. Bellande calls and seat 7 turns over KQ for the nut straight, Bellande mucks his cards. After this hand he is down to 1,800 in chips. Barry Greenstein Takes Down a Pot On a board of 954K seat 6 bet 350 UTG+1. Barry Greenstein made the call on the hi-jack and the river brought the 8. Seat 6 bet 350 again and Greenstein raised to 1,500, leaving less than 400 in his stack. His opponent went into the tank with 1,300 left behind and eventually decided to muck. Greenstein was close to 4,000 after the hand. Left in the Deck Nelly in a Haystack Rap star Nelly is playing in today’s field. Nelly played at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo last month, and he is making his first appearance at the 2009 WSOP in today’s field. He was up against J-10, meaning he needed to avoid a queen or seven. A queen came on the turn, and the river was a blank. Josephy had to give his opponent 174,000 chips in the hand, and was left witht just 60,000 left. He later moved all in with K-J and was up against A-K of Dag Martin Mikkelsen. Josephy flopped an open-ended straight draw, but didn't get it and was eliminated. Night TrainJul 07, '07 Sam Simon Doubles Accomplished television writer, producer and developer Sam Simon got involved in a big pot with poker pro J.J. Liu. Simon was down to $12,000 and moved all of his chips in preflop. After a few moments deliberation Liu decided to call with A10. Simon's AK had Liu dominated preflop, and after the board came down 765K7 Simon doubled to around $25,000 while his friend Norm MacDonald looked cheered him on from the sidelines. The Schoenfeld Split Cardplayer and PokerStars's own Adam Schoenfeld called a raise to $2,000 from the big blind, and he and his opponent saw a flop of K Q 10. His opponent bet $4,000 and Schoenfeld raised to $12,000. His opponent thought for a moment before throwing in six orange chips, a raise to $30,000. Schoenfeld stacked his schips into one tall tower and pushed it into the middle. His opponent called the all-in, which was only $1,500 more than his original bet. Schoenfeld revealed the Q 10 for bottom two, and his opponent looked surprised before revealing the Q10 for the same two pair. Schoenfeld was on a freeroll for running spades, but when the K fell on the turn the pot was a guaranteed chop. Both players merely split the small blind and the chips of any limpers. Montel? A player in seat three limps, seat four raises to $2,000, Montel Williams and the three seat call. The flop comes 532, Montel leads for $4,500, seat three folds and seat four moves all in for $23,200. Montel quickly calls and tables A4 while his opponent shows down AK. The turn is the 2, giving Montel a miracle straight. It doesn't hold however when the river brings the 10. Break and Color Up Floor staff is currently coloring up the green $25 chips.
