Karim Bennani Eliminated in Eighth Place (£50,100)
Oct 07, '09
In the first hand after the break, Karim Bennani shoved with K-3 for 290,000 and Rui Milhomens called from the big blind with K 10. The flop came J 7 3 giving Bennani a pair but also giving Milhomens a flush draw. The turn ended his day as it fell the 4 and Milhomens made his flush. The river was the meaningless 5.
Thanks to PokerStars, we know a little bit more about our first casualty of the day:
Karim started playing five card draw as a 12-year-old in home games with friends. It wasn’t until he went to San Diego to study Business Administration that he discovered Texas hold’em. But his interest in poker had to take a back seat when he returned to Casablanca while he focused on building up his two manufacturing businesses.
Now working as a real estate developer, Karim has had some decent live and online results. He came 54th in a Sunday Warm Up event on PokerStars and finished third in a $55 rebuy event on New Year’s Day this year.
His best result so far – aside from making the EPT London final table – was winning a $600 freezeout in Marrakech for $25k. Karim is being cheered on by his wife Omarine but the couple’s four children are back home in Casablanca.
He now goes home to join them with an extra £50,100 in his pocket for eighth place.
