Jamie Armstrong Doubles Twice

Trevor Pope raised to 60,000 under the gun preflop and Jamie Armstrong reraised all in for 160,000 from the hi-jack. Pope called and flipped over J5. Armstrong held AK and the board was dealt 7423Q. Armstrong doubled up to 405,000 to survive.

With the elimination of Rafal Mchalowski in ninth place ($37,391), the official, eight-handed final table is now set. Play will begin in Level 25 with blinds of 12,000–24,000 with a 4,000 ante, and action will continue until a winner is determined. Play may be extended an additional day if it takes more than 10 levels to reach a winner as noted on the official structure sheet. Picking up action on the turn with a board of AJJQ, James McCarrel checked and Trevor Pope bet 14,300. After some consideration, McCarrel called and the river brought the J. McCarrell once again took his time before sliding out a stack of pink 5,000 chips, seemingly equal to the majority if not all of Pope’s stack. Before the exact size of the bet could be determined, Pope frustratedly mucked the AA face up.

As McCarrell raked in the sizable pot, table mate Cary Katz said, “You’ve got to show it. He showed the greatest laydown ever!”

Wright Gets No Callers For His Kings

Larry Wright’s table, which also includes Cary Katz, Tim West, Tom Chae, Jimmy Tran and Trevor Pope, appears to be having quite a good time early on Day 2. Topics of discussion have included Wright and Katz swapping clothing styles among other things.

Down to just over 28,000 Wright took a look at one of his cards and saw it to be the K. Pope had raised to 2,500 from the cutoff, Tran called from the button, Katz called from the small blind and Weight moved all-in from the big blind.

“I only looked at one card,” Wright told his table.

But Pope, Tran and Katz decided that moment was not the time to call Wright’s all in and folded their hands.

“Let’s see what the other card was,” Pope said as wright moved his chips back across the betting ling.

Without looking Wright flashed his other hole card to the table, the K.

“I didn’t look at it,” Wright told the table of his pocket Kings and then proceeded to fist bump Katz.

The entire table appears to have a good time.
