Somerville Doubles Through Darian, Takes Chip Lead
Richard Fridvalszki opened the pot for 140,000 from under the gun, Yashar Darian reraised to 500,000 from the button, Jason Somerville shoved for 2.5 million, Fridvalszki folded and Darian called.
Somerville turned over 9 9 for the lead while Darian showed A K for the draw.
The board came J J J Q 5, giving Somerville a full house on the flop. Somerville doubled up to over 5 million this hand, taking the chip lead from Darian who was left with just 1.5 million.
Darian Takes It Back
Shortly after Jason Somerville doubled through Yashar Darian for the chip lead at the beginning of the level, Darian got right back to work building his stack back up. He won two big pots off of Travis Atkins and Richard Fridvalszki, affording him the chip lead once again, leaving both of them on the short stacks. Fridvalszki and Atkins were eliminated shortly after.

Somerville turned over A K for the lead against Fridvalszki’s K 10.

Travis Atkins Eliminated in 3rd Place ($215,855)
It may have been Yashar Darian that put Travis Atkins on the short stack, but it was Jason Somerville that finished him off.
Travis Atkins open-shoved the button for 450,000 and got two callers.
Jason Somerville and Yashar Darian both checked to the river on a board of 9 8 6 K J. Somerville bet 150,000 into the side pot and Darian folded.
Atkins showed K 7 for top pair but Somerville turned over K 10 for top pair with a better kicker. Travis Atkins was eliminated in 3rd place while Jason Somerville took a chip lead of 5.2 million to 4.25 million into heads-up play against Yashar Darian.
