Jason Somerville came to the final heads-up match with a chip lead of 5.2 million to Yashar Darian’s 4.25 million. Somerville steamrolled through Level 27, eliminating Alexander Martin in 5th place, Richard Fridvalszki in 4th, Travis Atkins in 3rd, and in a similar speedy fashion, Somerville ended the heads-up match victorious, and in only one hand.

Jason Somerville button-raised to 125,000, Yashar Darian reraised to 350,000 from the big blind, Somerville four-bet to 950,000, Darian moved all in and Somerville called.

Somerville turned over AHeart Suit AClub Suit and was a monster favorite against Darian’s KSpade Suit 4Diamond Suit.

The board came KDiamond SuitQHeart Suit 7Diamond Suit 2Club Suit 6Heart Suit, giving Darian top pair on the flop, but not enough help. Yashar Darian was eliminated in 2nd place ($305,009) while Jason Somverville claimed his fourth knockout of the night, the $493,091 grand prize and the gold bracelet for winning Event #20.

Somerville Doubles Through Darian, Takes Chip Lead

Richard Fridvalszki opened the pot for 140,000 from under the gun, Yashar Darian reraised to 500,000 from the button, Jason Somerville shoved for 2.5 million, Fridvalszki folded and Darian called.

Somerville turned over 9Heart Suit 9Club Suit for the lead while Darian showed ADiamond Suit KDiamond Suit for the draw.

The board came JHeart Suit JDiamond Suit JClub Suit QClub Suit 5Club Suit, giving Somerville a full house on the flop. Somerville doubled up to over 5 million this hand, taking the chip lead from Darian who was left with just 1.5 million.

Darian Takes It Back

Shortly after Jason Somerville doubled through Yashar Darian for the chip lead at the beginning of the level, Darian got right back to work building his stack back up. He won two big pots off of Travis Atkins and Richard Fridvalszki, affording him the chip lead once again, leaving both of them on the short stacks. Fridvalszki and Atkins were eliminated shortly after.
