With tables breaking and players getting moved around an interesting development has occurred.
Miguel Hernandez, who finished second in this event’s inaugural run to Maxx Dansky, and Gary Luther, who finished second in this event in August to Austin Lewis, are now seated at the same table.
We will of course be keeping an eye on the two players as the event progresses to see if either makes yet another deep run!
On a side note, Luther also finished tenth the year Hernandez finished second.

Miguel Hernandez Straightens Out the Competition

J9 the big blind raised to 4,400 and Miguel Hernandez three-bet to 11,000. The button folded and the player in the big blind moved all in for about 41,000. Hernandez, who had 40,000 called.

Miguel Hernandez finished second in this event in 2012 but has just been eliminated as the 8th place finisher.
Hernandez was short-stacked from a previous hand and immediately after break he moved all in with A9. Brant Hale called with AQ and Hernandez was eliminated after a J10632 board.

Gary Luther Battles Miguel Hernandez

Gary Luther and Miguel Hernandez have both finished runner-up in this event in the past. Hernandez in 2012 and Luther in August of 2014. Both men are still in the field today and fighting hard for the win.
Facing a pre-flop raise from Hernandez, Luther called and the two saw a flop of A107. Luther check-called Hernandez’s bet of 55,000 and saw the J on the turn. Luther check-called a second time, this time a bet of 83,000 from Hernandez. The river was the J and Hernandez cut out a bet of 100,000, leaving himself with about 475,000 behind. Luther, who had about 550,000, announced he was all-in.
Hernandez took several painstaking moments to decide what to do. In the end, he opted to fold his hand, but it was clear it was a decision he did not come by easily.

Miguel Hernandez's Cowboys Hold Up

Marcus Kwan got all in preflop with AQ against Miguel Hernandez. Hernandez showed KK and was in great shape to send Kwan to the payout cage. The board ran out 865QJ and Hernandez’s kings held up to eliminate Kwan in 54th place.
Kwan collects $2,125 while Hernandez chipped up to 408,000 in chips.
