Steve Mrozinski was just administered a one-round penalty for failing to raise with the nuts on the river. The board read Q-J-9-K-10 and Mrozinski held A-Q.
His opponent bet 1,500 into the river and Mrozinski just called with his broadway straight.
“I thought about raising, but I thought it was futile,” said the Houston resident, who thought the pot was likely to be chopped. His opponent revealed Q-J for a flopped two pair, but ended up playing the board and the pot was shipped to Mrozinski before the floor was called to administer the penalty.
Mrozinski took his penalty in stride, and soon enough was back in action in this inaugural Card Player Poker Tour Choctaw main event.
