The hijack called and the two remaining players in the hand saw the 3 on the turn. Mokedi had bet 10,000 in the dark, enough to put his opponent all-in, and the hijack responded by putting the rest of his chips in the middle. Mokedi rolled over A8 and was ahead of his opponent’s J8. The river was the 6 and Mokedi took the pot and sent his opponent to the rail. The player in the cutoff called, as did the player on the button. Brian Canin, who finished second in the $25,000 GTD prelim event earlier this series, moved all in for around 65,000 from the small blind and action folded back around to Armstrong, who called all in for his last 7,000 or so. The cutoff folded witout issue, but the player on the button, who had around 10,000 chips left let’s out an, “Oh my God,” before she leaned back in her chair to think. She eventually folded what she said was pocket nines. Canin turned over AA, while Armstrong showed QQ. It was apparently the third hand in a row Armstrong had a big pocket pair only to run into a bigger pocket pair. Armstrong received no help from the 932JA board and he hit the rail.
