Matthew Wright Takes a Bad Beat
Aug 21, '15
A player under-the-gun raised to 4,100 and Allison Hollander three-bet to 7,500 from early position. Action folded around to Matthew Wright in the cutoff, who cold four-bet to 20,000 and the under-the-gun player quickly called.
Hollander went into the tank for a minute before folding her hand and the under-the-gun player announced a dark check.
The flop was Q62.
“That was a good flop for me,” said the under-the-gun player.
Wright checked back and the turn was the 5. Under-the-gun moved all in for about 25,000 and Wright took a few moments before eventually calling. Wright showed AA and needed to fade a spade against his opposition’s A3.
The table let out a yell in disbelief as the J fell on the river and Wright took a bad beat to lose about half of his stack.
Matthew Wright – 44,000
