Matt Wright Doubles Through Former Chip LeaderMay 05, '17 Matt Wright was holding the K10 and saw a flop of AQJ, giving him the nuts. He checked to Seung Yang, who was among the chip leaders. Yang shoved and it was folded back around to Wright. He made the quick call for 75,800. Yang tabled JJ for a set. More than 150,000 chips, about twice the average stack, was sitting in the middle. The turn was the 4, which was of no help to Yang. He still needed the board to pair. The 7 was also no good, and Yang was down to about 50,000, while Wright was near the top of the chip counts. However, Wright gave some back the very next hand when he ran his pocket kings into pocket aces. He only lost about 40,000 in that spot and was still sitting with a healthy chip stack. Matthew Wright Takes a Bad BeatAug 21, '15 A player under-the-gun raised to 4,100 and Allison Hollander three-bet to 7,500 from early position. Action folded around to Matthew Wright in the cutoff, who cold four-bet to 20,000 and the under-the-gun player quickly called. Hollander went into the tank for a minute before folding her hand and the under-the-gun player announced a dark check. The flop was Q62. “That was a good flop for me,” said the under-the-gun player. Wright checked back and the turn was the 5. Under-the-gun moved all in for about 25,000 and Wright took a few moments before eventually calling. Wright showed AA and needed to fade a spade against his opposition’s A3. The table let out a yell in disbelief as the J fell on the river and Wright took a bad beat to lose about half of his stack.
