Gabe Kaplan was born on March 31, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York. He is best known for his role as Gabe Kotter in the 1970s sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter, but can now be seen as the host of GSN's High Stakes Poker.
Kaplan often pokes fun at the poker superstars who are featured on the show, and his commentary also showcases his deep knowledge of the game. His biggest cash was a third-place finish in the 2004 World Poker Tour Mirage Poker Showdown, earning him about $250,000. In 2006, he was the runner-up in a World Series of Poker limit hold'em event.
