No Luck for Leckey
Apr 13, '08
Northern Irish man Paul Leckey had just under 10,000 chips on the hand before the break when he was big blind. He chose not to exercise his option and saw a flop of AJ6, bet 300 and was called. A K fell on the turn and Leckey checked, as did his opponent.
An 8 fell on the river and Leckey confidently bet 1,500. He was raised by his French opponent directly to his left to 7,000, which would have put him all-in.
Leckey looked unsure of what to do. Shaking his head, looking at the players stack, staring him down. It was clear something was amiss from his game plan. He looked tired enough to call but somehow mustered the strength to toss his hand in the muck, showing K-J for two pair.
His opponent made a great spectacle, which had the railbirds and Leckey himself smiling, about showing his 8-8 for rivered trips and Leckey lived to fight another day.

Thor Hansen is Gone

Thor Hansen's short stack finally succumbed and the Norwegian hit the rail. Mickey Wernick is struggling to get moving with about 7K. On a flop of J75 "The Worm" called a bet of 500. The flop came K and after his opponent checked Mickey bet 1,500. His opponent re-raised 5,000 and it didn't take Wernick too long to muck his hand with a sigh.
