Moe Mogadam Ships the Money
Oct 23, '15
Al Helfon opened to 8,000 from under the gun, Moe Mogadam called in middle position, Isaac Branch called behind him, Dion Jones called, and the player on the button made it 35,000 to play. Both Helfon and Mogadam call, while Branch and Jones folded.
The three players took a K96 flop and Helfon instantly moved all in for his last 50,000 or so. Mogadam wasted little time calling with what appeared to be the same amount of chips, and the player on the button folded.
One player at the table announced, “It is ace-king and the flush draw, what else could it be?”
His read was a little off. Helfon held KQ for top pair, while Mogadam had A9 for middle pair.
The turn was the 5 and the river a brutal 9 for Helfon, as it gave Mogadam trip nines, prompting him to raise his hands in the air and proclaim, “Ship the money!”
Helfon was halfway to the parking lot before the tournament director could count down his stack and determine that Mogadam had him covered by exactly 100 chips.
Moe Mogadam – 225,000

Al Helfon Doubles Through Chris Mills
Oct 23, '15
There was around 18,000 already in the pot when four players saw a flop of 1098. The player in the small blind bet 4,000, the under-the-gun player folded, and Chris Mills raised to 15,000 in middle position.
Action moved to the player in the hijack, but Al Helfon, who was on the button, mistakenly thought the hijack folded and announced he was all in for 68,850. With Helfon’s verbal action binding, the player in the hijack folded and Helfon moved all in. The small blind folded and Mills called, having Helfon covered.
Mills flopped a straight with J7, but Helfon had a bigger straight with QJ. The turn brought the A and the river the 7 and Helfon scooped the massive pot.
Al Helfon – 165,000
Chris Mills – 17,000

Al Helfon Busts One

Al Helfon and his short-stacked opponent got it all in on a 982 flop. The at-risk player had 69for top pair and a flush draw, while Helfon held AK for overcards and the nut flush draw.
The Q on the turn is no help to Helfon, but the 7 on the river gives him the superior flush and the pot.
Al Helfon – 40,000
