2. Jeff Williams – 100,000
3. Jeremy Ausmus – 88,000
4. Radek Stockner – 88,000
5. Eli Elezra – 84,300
6. Keven Stammen – 74,000

8. Michael Kamran – 72,000
9. Allyn Jaffrey Shulman – 40,000
10. Barry Shulman – 30,000
Notable Eliminations:
Freddy Deeb, Matt Glantz, Nelly, Chris Moorman, Mark Vos, Gabe Kaplan
Big Hands:
Freddy Deeb Busted By Keven Stammen
Three players were in a pot that saw a flop of KQ4 hit the felt. Keven Stammen fired 2,200 and Freddy Deeb made the call, as did another player. The turn was the 10 and everyone checked. The river was the Q and Deeb led out with 6,000. The other player in the hand folded, but Stammen repopped it to 37,000 total. Deeb only had 11,000 behind and made the call.
Deeb then tabled AJ for a Broadway straight, but Stammen showed KQ for a full house and Deeb’s main event was over.
Chris Moorman Gone
The player in the small blind limped in and Chris Moorman moved all in. The small blind called and the players tabled their hands.
Small Blind: AK
Moorman: JJ
Board: A4437
Moorman was outflopped and could not catch up the rest of the way and his main event was cut short on day 1.
Mark Vos Ousted
Mark Vos raised to 700 preflop and action folded around to Peter Hedlund. He reraised to 3,000 and Vos came back over the top, moving in for 8,450. Hedlund called and showed down AK. Vos tabled QQ and things were looking good for Vos. But the turn brought another ace to the party and Vos couldn’t hit his set on the river and he was eliminated.
Jerry Yang Doubles Up
A player in middle position raised to 850 and Jerry Yang all in 3,925. Action folded around to the middle position player. He made the call and Yang showed KQ. The middle position player showed 22 and the flop fell QQ3.
The player in the big blind then announced that he had folded a deuce. The turn was the K, filling up Yang and the river was the case 2. Yang doubled to 8,000.
Prerry Friedman Cracks Aces, Eliminates Opponent
Perry Friedman took a flop heads up against his opponent and the flop fell 998. After a series of bets and raises all of the money got in and the cards were turned face up.
Friedman showed K9, which was miles ahead of the AA of his opponent. The turn was the 7 and the river was the 8, giving Friedman a full house and the pot.
Nines Are No Good For Alexander
Jason Alexander raised from the hijack position and was called by the small blind. The flop was A104 and both players checked. The turn was the 6 and the small blind checked again.
Alexander decided it was time to bet and put out 1500 into the middle. He was met with a check-raise to 3500 from the small blind. After some thought, Alexander put in the call. The river was the 8 and both players checked.
Alexander tabled the 99, but the small blind turned over AQ and took the pot.
Veldhuis With A Stone Cold Bluff
Over at the feature table, the flop came down 432 and the action was checked to Lex Veldhuis. He fired 2,300 and his opponent made the call. The turn was the 9 and action was checked to Veldhuis again. He fired 6,000 more chips into the pot and his opponent stuck around. The river was the A and action was checked again to Veldhuis. He then moved all in for over 40,000, having his opponent covered. This induced a fold and Veldhuis then tabled K6 for absolutely nothing. He raked in the pot and was at 70,000.
Yang Doubles Up Again
After being moved to a new table, Jerry Yang made it 900 to go preflop and was three-bet by Steve Paul-Ambrose to 2550. Yang called and they saw a flop of 2K8 and Steve Paul-Ambrose put out enough to put Yang all in.
Yang put in the call and said “This is the hand I won the World Series with,” said Yang as he tabled the 88, giving him middle set. Steve Paul-Ambrose showed the 99 and needed to improve to take the pot.
The turn was the K and the 5, doubling up Yang to 17,000.

Blinds: 400/800 with 100 ante
Chip Leaders:
Big Hands/Storylines
Strange Ride For Dicken
Things were going well for Darrell Dicken when his pocket kings held up against pocket jacks for a 25,000 pot, but after losing nearly all of his chips in subsequent hands, Dicken had to get his chips into the middle with a far more marginal hand. Risking his remaining 3,000, he found his A8 up against 1010 and doubled up when the board came A8725. Dicken currently has 9,000 chips.
Brandon Adams Staying Aggressive
An under-the-gun raiser made it 2,300 and Adams made it 8,800. The initial raiser called and the two saw a flop. The dealer laid out Q73 and it was checked to Adams who flicked out 14,000 in chips. His opponent thought better about mixing it up and laid down his hand. Though Adams has maintained an aggressive style of play throughout the day, his chipstack has not reaped any benefits. He is currently at 145,000 after starting the day at 175,000.
Rousso Making Her Presence Known
An early position player raised to 2,400 and was quickly called by Vanessa Rousso. The small blind also called and the three saw a flop. The flop was 1074 and the small blind checked. The raiser bet out 6,000. Rousso asked to see the bettor’s chips and after a bit of thought, pushed 50,000 into the pot, effectively setting both of the other players all-in. The small blind folded quickly and the big blind, after some thought of his own, laid down the hand. Rousso is now up to 80,000.
Hennigan Back in Thick of Things
John Hennigan had been hovering around the 50,000 mark most of the day, but he made a major score just after play resumed in level 8. Hennigan and an opponent raised each other preflop, then saw the board come 10-7-6. Hennigan was then all-in for 38,100 more, which his opponent called. Hennigan held KK while the other player tabled QQ. The turn brought the 3 and the A was the river, taking Hennigan over the 100,000 mark while his opponent was down to 3200. Hennigan then busted him on the next hand, his KJ dominating his opponent’s K9. Hennigan flopped a jack to finish the elimination.
Lindgren Spinning his Wheels
Erick Lindgren, once just above 100,000, was back down to 70,000, near where he started the day. He recently tried to look up Brandon Adams from the big blind, after Adams – one of the chip leaders – raised to 2800 preflop. Lindgren called, but after a flop of QJ8, he checked and then folded in the face of a 4500 bet. A few hands later, Lindgren was down to just 25,000 in chips.
Vos Adds to Total
Mark Vos and the player to his immediate right are easily the dominant chip stacks at their table. They’ve butted heads a few times, most recently when the first player raised to 2500 and Vos called. The flop came A53, and Vos would call another 2500 bet. The J was the turn card, and the same pattern was repeated. The 4 came on the river, and now his opponent stepped out for a 6000 bet. Vos then put in a raise to 26,000. It was enough to push his opponent off his hand.
Hachem Busts Karam
Marc Karam raised from the cut-off preflop and Tony Hachem put in a reraise from the button that cost Karam 4800 more. He called and the flop came 643. Karam them moved all-in for his remaining 30,000, and Hachem called. Karam was open-ended with the 85 while Hachem held QQ. The turn was the 10 and the river the 10, which sent Karam to the rail.

Big Hands and Storylines:
Karam, Vos Get Pushed Back
Marc Karam raised from early position to 1600 and Mark Vos in the cut-off made the call. The big blind, however, was having none of it. He raised to 4200, leaving himself with 12,000 behind. Both Karam and Vos elected to lay their hands down.
Corkins Steps Aside
Hoyt Corkins was on the button and raised to 1675 when play was folded to him. The small blind reraised to 4500 and Corkins called. The flop came J32, and the small blind bet all-in for 10,600. Corkins folded, now with about 90,000 in chips.
Perry Friedman Eliminated
Perry Friedman’s World Series has come to an end. His A-Q could not improve against his opponent’s pocket threes on a board of J-4-4-K-Q.
Toto’s Mojo Sows Foe's Woe
Toto Leonidas has been consistently chipping up at table blue 6. His latest small victory came against one of the big stacks today, Brian Schaedlich. Schaedlich raised from late position pre-flop and was called by Leonidas in the blind. Both players checked the AQ8 flop and the 5 turn. The river was the 3 and Leonidas bet 4,000 into Schaedlich who made the call. Leonidas turned up AJ for top pair and took down the pot. Leonidas is at 77,000, well up from his starting stack today of 59,000.
River Makes Three Hands, Nielsen Scoops
Play was folded around to the short-stacked button, who had pushed all-in on his previous hand and doubled up through Rasmus Nielsen. The button went the same route again and moved all-in for 6300. Nielsen, in the small blind, then raised to 6300 in an isolation bid. However, the big blind chose that opportunity to push all-in for 31,700. Nielsen, with over 110,000 in chips, made the call. The big blind showed A10, while Nielsen held AQ. The button possessed JJ. The flop came K96 to provide further outs to Nielsen, who spiked the Q on the turn to take the lead. He clinched the victory with the J on the river for the flush, which ironically gave the button a set of jacks and the big blind a straight.
Series over for H.O.R.S.E. champ
Scotty Nguyen was short-stacked for a while and moved all in for just 4,000. He held pocket nines and ran into pocket kings. He flopped a set, but the flop was all hearts and his opponent had the K. Another heart came on the river, sending Nguyen to the rail.

Big Hands and Storylines:
Nick’s Tricks Net Nix Chips
Nick Schulman raised to 1,200 from the cut-off in an open pot. The action folded to the player in the big blind who made the call. The flop came J85, and both players checked. The 6 generated a bet of 3,000 from the player in the big blind, and Schulman instantly jettisoned his hand into the muck. Schulman finished the hand with 80,000 in chips.
Wasicka Watches Worries Wash Away with Aces
Paul Wasicka successfully doubled up and survived elimination yet again, this time courtesy of pocket aces. The action folded to Wasicka, who pushed all in pre-flop for his remaining 4,500 from the cut-off. The button and small blind folded, and the big blind instantly called and turned over AJ. Wasicka revealed his AA, and the board ran 88762. Wasicka finished the hand with slightly less than 20,000 in chips.
Pat’s Jacks Axe Stacks
Patrick Antonius raised to 1,600 from middle position, and the next player to act reraised to a total of 4,500. The action folded back to Antonius who moved all in for his remaining additional 9,000. His opponent made the call and turned over 88, the underdog to Antonius’ JJ. The board ran K6664, and Antonius finished the hand with 25,000.
Demetriou runs into aces and is out
Harry Demetriou raised to 2,100 from early position and was reraised to 6,200 total. He made the call and the two players saw a 8-6-4 flop with two spades. After Demetriou checked his opponent bet 12,000. After a minute Demetriou raised all in for 24,225 more. His opponent took a couple minutes before calling with pocket aces. Demetriou had pocket tens and the turn and river didn't help him.
Shulman Forced to Fold
Barry Shulman was in the big blind and called a preflop raise to 1600 from a player in middle position. The flop came QQ8, and both players checked. The 2 followed on the turn, and after Shulman checked, he called a bet of 5000. A third queen hit the river with the Q appearing, and after Shulman checked his opponent bet 10,000. Shulman, with about 50,000 in chips, laid his hand down.
Vos Adds to Stack
Mark Vos raised from early position to 1300 and drew two calls including one from the player in the cut-off. The Q109 flop brought two checks, and the cut-off bet 3000, which Vos called. The two were heads-up to see the 5 come on the turn, and both players checked. The A was the scare card on the river and now Vos led out for 7000. His opponent folded. Vos is at the same table as television/movie actor Ray Romano, though playing in the red section of the Amazon room means the table will be among the next to be broken.
Myung Survives All-in
John Myung was in the small blind for 250, and saw a player in late position raise to 2000. Myung, with only 8500 in chips remaining, used this opportunity to move all-in. Play folded to the raiser, who needed to call 6500 to force a showdown. But with just over 21,000 in chips, he elected to lay his hand down.
Bill Continues to Drill
On a board of 10942, Bill Gazes fired a bet of 6,500, causing his two opponents to fold their cards. Gazes finished the hand with 25,000 in chips.
Paul Pushes
Paul Wasicka successfully doubled up, but still remains at fewer than 25,000 in chips. After the player on the button limped into the pot, Wasicka raised and the big blind folded. The button made the call, and the flop came queen high with two clubs. Wasicka pushed in his remaining 6,000 and the button made the call. Wasicka held K-Q, while his opponent held K8. The K on the turn was effectively a blank for Wasicka, reducing his opponent’s outs by one (the Q). The river was a heart, and Wasicka won the pot.
Friedman loses big chunk of his stack
On a AKJ flop Perry Friedman bet 3,600 and was called by one player. The turn was the A and Friedman bet 4,500. He was again called, and then the T came on the river. This time Friedman checked, and his opponent bet 11,000. Friedman was not happy with his stuation but eventually made the call. His opponent flipped over pocket jacks for a full house to beat Friedman's A-Q for trips. After the hand Friedman had less than 30,000 chips.

Big Hands:
Adams Crippled, Then Busted
Brandon Adams raised to 12,000 from the cutoff and the big blind made the call. The flop came J108 and the big blind checked. Adams then fired 20,000 into the pot and the big blind check-raised all in to about 65,000. Adams made the call and turned over J5 for top pair. But his opponent showed J8 for two pair and the upper hand. The turn brought the 4 and Adams needed a 10 to, at best, chop the pot. But the river was the 9 and Adams was crippled, left with just 25,000 in chips.
A few hands later, Adams Pushed his last 24,000 all in from middle position. Action folded to the small blind, who pushed all in for 80,000 total to isolate. But the big blind didn't just throw away his hand. He tanked and eventually called, having both Adams and the small blind covered. The small blind showed A10, the big blind showed 77 and Adams was thrilled to show 88. "This is the best hand I could really hope for," he said. "Anyone fold an ace?" The didn't look good for Adams, running AK10 to give the small blind two pair. However, Adams had the 8 for a flush draw and had some more outs. But the board completed with the J and J and the small blind took the pot, sending Adams to the rail while doubling up through the big blind.
"No Foster's?"
Mark Vos has joined the table featuring tournament chipleader Jeremiah Smith and Jon "PearlJammer" Turner. The table has had some friendly conversation, including Smith asking Vos, "No Foster's? I heard it's Australian for beer." Vos gave a "pft" and rolled his eyes in response.
Turner Takes One With Overpair
Jon Turner simply called from the big blind when another player raised to 11,000 from late position. The flop came J92 and Turner checked to the raiser who bet 15,000. Turner made the call and check-called his opponent's bet of 35,000 when the 6s hit on the turn. Turner checked the 10d on the river and his opponent slowed down and quickly checked behind him. Turned flipped over QQ for a slow-played overpair and was thrilled to see his opponent's AJ. Turner took the pot, adding an additional 65,000 to his stack.
Markus Golser Takes a Hit
Markus Golser got his opponent all in with the board showing K1028 and showed down K10 for top two pair. However, his opponent showed AJ for the nut flush. Golser couldn not improve to a full house on the river and took a hit, dropping to 120,000 in chips.
One Man's Trash Is Gus Hansen's Treasure
On a board reading 9239, Gus Hansen moved all in and was called by his opponent in seat 2. Seat 2 turned over JJ for two pair, but Hansen showed down Q9 for a set on the turn. The river was the icing on the cake as the Q filled up Hansen. He doubled up to around 320,000 in chips.
"Wow, what a turn," Hansen said after the hand. "It was a piece of s%#& hand, but I was on tilt," Hansen added as the table moved on to the next hand.
Chan Takes a Small One, His Table Gets Tougher
After the player in seat 2 raised to 12,000, only Johnny Chan and the player on the button made the call. The fop came K98 and seat 2 checked to Chain who fired 30,500. Everyone folded and chan flashed A-K to seat 2 before raking in his chips.
Johnny Chan and Hoyt Corkins are now seated right beside each other after Corkins' table broke.
Hellmuth Makes His Money In These Situations
The player in seat 7 raised to 16,000 and Phil Hellmuth made the call. The player in seat 2 then popped it for 20,000 more and only Hellmuth made the call. The flop came J75 and Hellmuth made his patented check in the dark. Seat 2 almost immediately moved all in and Hellmuth went into character. The raise was 47,000 more and Hellmuth said, "This is how I make all my money," Hellmuth started. "By making great moves right here." He eventually folded his hand, but only after a million cameras showed up to the table. "Show it!" Hellmuth said to his opponent. He showed a queen and raked in the pot. Hellmuth was around 490,000.
Freerolling On Table 39
Over on Table 39 (Blue), two players were all before the flop, both with pocket jacks. One player held a pair of red jacks, the other held black jacks. The board came 962, giving one player a freeroll with the club flush draw. The turn was the 2, but the river was the 8, giving one player the flush and eliminating his opponent.

On a board of AQ42, Shawn Sheikhan got it all in against the player in seat 3. Sheikhan had him covered and both players turned over their cards.
Sheikhan: AQ
Seat 3: AJ
Sheikhan led with the best hand on the turn, top two pair, and his opponent was drawing to a flush. The river was the 6, and no spade meant that Sheikhan had eliminated another player at his table. Sheikhan screamed out in excitement on the river, "Yes! That's how mother-f#@%ers do it! I'm the real mother-f#@%er!" The player in seat 2 asked Sheikhan, "So I take it that f I call you a mother-f#@%er later, you won't mind?" Sheikhan didn't seem to mind because after this hand, he had finally broken the 500,000 chip mark and claimed himself a spot on the leader board.
Nguyen Pushes Giang Out, Much to the Chagrin of Giang
On a board of AQJ2, Men "The Master" Nguyen fired 15,000 into a pot totaling almost 40,000. The action was on Giang who took a session in the think tank. After much deliberation, Giang angrily mucked his cards and Nguyen took the pot, improving his stack to 140,000. Giang was not pleased, seeing his stack shrink to 45,000. On the next hand, Giang angrily shuffled his chips, slamming them on the felt every other shuffle, the thought of losing that hand still on his mind.
Smith Taking Command
Jeremiah Smith had already reraised when the player in seat 2 made it 100,000 to go. The action came back to Smith, who reraised all in. Seat 2 shook his head and, after much time thinking and cameras swarming the table, he gave up his hand to the chip leader. Smith was not done showing his table who was boss.
A couple of hands later, Smith reraised to 250,000 after the player in seat 8 opened for a raise. Seat 8 made the call and showed down AK. Smith then turned over the bad news, AA. The board ran out Q5477 and Smith knocked another player out. He was at 725,000.
Turner Turns On The Jets
At a tough table featuring Ryan Daut, Jon "PearlJammer" Turner, and the current chip leader of the main event Jeremiah Smith - the player in seat 4 raised on the first hand after dinner break and Turner reraised to 26,000 total. Action folded back to the initial raiser who elected to call. The flop came AK8 and seat 4 checked to Turner, who led out with a bet of 29,000. Seat 4 called and the 10 came on the turn. Seat 4 checked again and Turner bet 58,000. Seat 4 counted out his chips and tanked for a few minutes, occasionally looking at Turner. He eventually folded, giving Turner more than 75,000 of his chips in the proccess. Turner sits with around 275,000 in chips.
Ng Keeps Firing
Evelyn Ng raised to 9,000 from middle position and the player in seat 8 made the call from the cutoff. The flop came out 1063 and Ng led out with 14,500. Seat 8 made the call and the turn was the 9. Ng would not stop with the pressure, firing 37,000 more into the pot. Seat 8 quickly made the call and the river brought the 7. Ng hesitated briefly, then unloaded a 65,000 shot into the pot. Seat 8 then took a long session in the tank. After almost 10 minutes of thinking, he finally mucked his hand and Ng took a pot of over 100,000. Her stack was at around 340,000.
Gazes Pushes Back
Action folded around to the player in seat 2 who raised to 9,200 from the cutoff. Action was next on Bill Gazes on the button, who repopped to 22,500. The blinds folded and action was back on seat 2. The cameras came over as seat 2 asked for time to make his decision. He finally folded AK face up and surrendered the pot to Gazes, who's stack grew to around 90,000.
Good Luck Betting Out Vos
From late position Seat 3 raised to 8,000 preflop and Mark Vos made the call in the big blind. The flop came K102 and Vos checked to seat 3, who bet 9,000. Vos made the call and checked when the 2 hit on the turn. Seat 3 checked behind this time and the J landed on the river. Vos fired 15,000 and seat 3 gave his hand up. Vos has around 300,000 in chips.

Hellmuth Loses A Third Of His Stack
Santeri Valikoski raised to 27,000 from early position preflop. Hellmuth was next to act and made the call. The flop came down KJ5 and Valikoski checked. Hellmuth fired 30,000 into the pot and Valikoski hung around. The turn was the 5 and Valikoski checked again. Hellmuth grabbed a large stack of orange "5,000" chips and shoved it into the pot. The bet was 100,000 and Valikoski took some time to think before deciding to call. The river was the Q and Valikoski checked one last time. Hellmuth gave up and checked behind his opponent. Valikoski showed J10 reluctantly, thinking Hellmuth had the better hand. But Hellmuth mucked and Valikoski took a huge chunk from Hellmuth's stack. The "Poker Brat" was down to about 200,000. "He's tough, man," Hellmuth said about his opponent.
A few hands later, Hellmuth said, "Here we go again, huh?" as he and Valikosi were heads up again. The flop ran KQ2 and Valikosi checked to Hellmuth, who fired 20,000. Valikosi folded this time and Hellmuth showed KQ for flopped top two pair and began to talk about how he wished Valikosi had paired a queen in the hand so he could call him down.
Cunningham Fires Under the Gun and Gets Burned
Allen Cunningham raised to 30,000 under the gun and action folded to Ronald Adams on the button. He made the call and the blinds folded. The flop came down 433. Cunningham checked and Adams fired 50,000 into the pot. Cunningham slid his chips gradually into the pot to make the call. The turn brought the 4 and Cunningham checked again. Adams kept pushing as he fired 100,000 into the pot. Cunningham had enough and mucked his hand. His stack was around 1.5 million after the hand.
Hansen Takes Hit
When the player in seat 4 put in a raise to 30,000, Gus Hansen re-raised from the big blind to 102,000. Seat 4 insta-called and the flop ran A32. Hansen checked from the big blind and seat 4 bet out 175,000. Hansen thought for a minute, shrugged and then mucked his hand, losing more than 100,000 in the hand. Hansen has around 1,300,000 in chips.
No Blow Ups
Mike "The Mouth" Matusow quietly raised to 30,000 from middle position. The table quietly folded back around to Matusow, who quietly flipped over AK as he raked in the blinds and antes.
Corkins Chops It Up
Hoyt Corkins had Anthony Meeker all in before the flop. Both players held big slick, Corkins with the AK and Meeker with the AK. The flop put Corkins on a freeroll for the rest of the hand, running out 432. The turn improved both players to a straight, but also gave Corkins a flush draw with the 5. Meeker almost seemed to have given up hope in the hand when the 8 rolled off on the river, saving Meeker from elimination as he split the pot with the quiet cowboy.
Mark Vos is a Sick Puppy
On the river of a board reading AJ674, Mark Vos was heads up with William Soffin. Vos led out for 150,000, and Soffin made the call, mucking his hand when Vos turned over JJ for flopped middle set. As Soffin counted out his chips for the call, it was discovered that he would be left with only 1,000 - a single yellow chip, which he tried to give to Vos by hiding it in the haphazard pile that he pushed into the felt. Vos adamantly refused to take the chip, and the dealer recounted the stack to confirm that Soffin was in fact left with nothing more than a chip and a chair. During the process, another player at the table spoke up: "Did you put him on only 1,000 left? 'Cuz that's pretty f***ed up if you did." The table erupted into laughter, the pot moved to Vos, and Soffin anted all-in on the next hand.
Mark Vos opened the pot with a small raise, only to have Andrew Brooks reraise to 60,000 from the button. The big blind, Jose Baeza, then reraised all-in for a total of 161,000. Vos quickly folded, Brooks made the call, and the three players turned over their cards.
Brooks: AK
Baeza: JJ
Soffin: 34
The flop brought AQ5, leading everyone at the table to start calling loudly and in unison for a deuce to ship the antes to Soffin. The turn brought the 8, and still louder cries for a deuce. "You know everyone at this table wants you to win this pot," Vos assured Soffin. The river did in fact improve Soffin's hand, but not enough, bringing only the 4. Both the main and the side pot went to Brooks, and Baeza and Soffin were eliminated.

Big Hands and Storylines:
McManus Making Moves
James McManus just pulled a bold, aggressive move to take down a pot pre-flop. As reported by Alan Jaffray, David Saab raised to 15,000 from the cutoff and Matt Matros re-raised to 50,000. Action folded to James McManus in the big blind who slid a stack of 30 orange chips into the middle of the table, making it 150,000 total. Both Saab and Matros folded, and McManus showed 8-4 offsuit for an audacious bluff. With that pot, McManus is at 820,000 on the day.
Robert Mizrachi Eliminated
Here are the details of the Robert Mizrachi elimination we mentioned in the prior update:
William Soffin raised from early position to 12,500 and was called by Robert Mizrachi in middle position. The flop came down J94 and Sofin moved all-in for more than three times the pot. Mizrachi made the call and they turned up their hands:
Soffin: QJ
Mizrachi: KJ
Mizrachi’s king kicker had him well in the lead. The turn was the 7, leaving Soffin only three outs on the river. Soffin spiked one of those outs however – the Q – and Mizrachi was eliminated. Soffin’s aggressive play and good fortune have helped him run his stack up to 460,000.
Cliff Josephy Doubles, but runs into bad luck and is out
Just one hand after Mizrachi had been eliminated, the action continued at table Orange 28. Salomon Sutton raised to 16,000 from the button and was met by a quick all-in by Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy. The raise was for 40,000 more and Sutton made the call. It was a race situation: Josephy showed 1010 and Sutton had AK. The flop was 1076 and Josephy took a giant lead in the hand. When the turn 10 gave Josephy quads, he exclaimed, “That is a lot of tens.” The river was meaningless and Josephy doubled up to 120,000. Sutton would be eliminated later in the level.
Later on in the level, a player was all in on a 9-8-6 flop and Josephy made the call with pocket jacks. He was up against J-10, meaning he needed to avoid a queen or seven. A queen came on the turn, and the river was a blank. Josephy had to give his opponent 174,000 chips in the hand, and was left witht just 60,000 left. He later moved all in with K-J and was up against A-K of Dag Martin Mikkelsen. Josephy flopped an open-ended straight draw, but didn't get it and was eliminated.
Kirill Gerasimov Eliminated
Gus Hansen raised from under-the-gun and action folded around to Danny Mitnick in middle position. Mitnick tossed in a raise to 46,000. Without too much hesitation, Kirill Gerasimov moved all-in from the small blind for 130,000 total. Hansen folded his hand, leaving the table to dictate his thoughts into his voice recorder, and Mitnick made the call. The two turned up their hands:
Gerasimov: KK
Mitnick: AK
Gerasimov asked Hansen if he had folded an ace, but Hansen claimed to have a pocket pair. That was reinforced when the dealer laid out the flop: AA10. Gerasimov needed runner-runner kings to survive, but the turn and river were the 2 and 5 and he was eliminated.
The hand takes Mitnick up to 350,000.
Can Kings Hold One Time for Mark Vos?
After getting it all in pre-flop for his last 65,000 in chips with KQ, Andy Goetsch found himself dominated by Mark Vos’ KK. As the camera crews came over to capture the moment, Vos had something to say. “I just want it to be known that someone folded the A and Q,” Vos jokingly mentioned, already fearing that he would be outdrawn. The Q102 flop was a start, and Vos was quick to note that only the case queen remained in the deck. The A on the turn brought jabs from Vos’ tablemates that his opponent could now catch any of the remaining jacks to make a straight and chop the pot. Fortunately for Vos, a miracle occurred and the 3 fell on the river. Vos finished the hand with almost 500,000 in chips.
Schoenfeld gets set on river and is knocked out
Adam Schoenfeld made a reraise and then called all in with pocket tens. He later said he knew his opponent, Sigurd Eskeland, was weak when he moved all in. But his KJ was still more or less a coinflip. But it was looking good when the flop was 8-7-6, and great after a nine came on the turn to give him a straight. He said "no set" over and over, and then the dealer went ahead and gave him a set. The ten on the river gave Eskeland a better straight and the pot.
Cantu makes call and knocks out player
Brandon Cantu called an all in reraise with pocket fours and found himself up against A-J. The board came 10-7-2-5-7 and Cantu's big stack -- he started the day with 710,000 -- got a bit bigger.
Joseph Busts Another
Chip leader Jeremy Joseph sent another player to the rails with a fortunate turn card. He raised from early position to 15,000, then Kenneth Lee announced all-in from the next seat. Lee had 70,500 in chips that went to the center of the table. Play was folded back to Joseph, who was able to call with Q10 thanks to his massive chip stack. Lee held 77 and led after the flop of 542, but the 10 on the turn vaulted Joseph into the lead, and he stayed there when the 6 came on the river.
Rosen Eliminated
Jamie Rosen, who suffered a major blow to his chip stack earlier in the day, was eliminated when his AQ went all-in against an opponent’s KK and couldn’t improve. The board ran out J9462.

Big Hands:
Vos Busts On Final Hand of Day 5 - 80th Place ($77,200)
After Dennis Phillips raised to 65,000, Mark Vos reraised to 180,000. Phillips repopped it to 400,000 and Vos moved all in for 1,500,000. Phillips made the easy call and showed AA. Vos held AK and was in horrible shape. The board ran Q93102 and just like that Vos, who had an above-average chip stack before the hand, was eliminated on the final hand of the night.
Matros Fills Up, Busts Silber in 86th Place ($64,333)
Reagan Silber fired out a bet of 100,000 on a flop of Q76 and Matt Matros raised, making it 300,000 to go. Silber moved all in and Matros wasted little time calling. Matros held 76 for two pair on the flop, but Silber was drawing at the nut flush with A9. The turn was the 6, giving Matros a full house and ending the drama they would have otherwise had to endure. The 5 hit on the river and Matros eliminated Silber and reached the 2 million mark.
The Reigning Aussie Millions Champ Is Gone in 84th Place ($64,333)
Alexaner Kostritsyn raised to 65,000 and was called by Garrett Beckman from the button. Kostritsyn checked the flop of 1064 and Beckman fired 90,000. Kostritsyn check-raised all in for 395,000 and Beckman took several minutes to think over his decision. He eventually called and showed 77, which he quickly saw was ahead of Kostritsyn's AK. The 2 and J completed the board and Kostritsyn was eliminated.
Hellmuth Gets Keayed
Aaron Keay raised to 80,000 before the flop. From the small blind, Hellmuth raised to 220,000, and Keay made the call. The flop came AJ5, and Hellmuth fired out for another 140,000. It didn't take long for Keay to move all in, and it took even less time for Hellmuth to fold his hand. Phil's stack went down to around 900,000 after the hand. He recovered slightly the next hand, raising to 65,000 preflop to take down the blinds and antes.
A Brick Saves Joseph Money
On a board of 1043, Jeremy Joseph fired 100,000 into a pot of about 200,000. The player on the button mucked, but Suresh Prabhu made the call from the big blind. The turn was the 8 and both players checked. The Q fell on the river and Prabhu led out for 200,000. Joseph looked off in the distance, clearly frustrated. "That is a brick," Joseph said about the final card. He then threw his hand in the muck. Prabhu showed 44 for a flopped set of sailboats and a rivered full house. Joseph smiled as he was around 1.6 million after the hand.
Staying Alive
Alex Outhred got all in preflop against Michael Carroll and the players showed their hands. Carroll showed 99, but Outhred had two overs with QJ. The flop hit Outhred hard, running AQ10 to give him middle pair and the better flush draw of the two. The 4 turn and 8 kept clear of Carroll's hand and Outhred doubled to around 675,000.
Chinotown
Sean Davis raised to 75,000 before the flop, and was called by two players, Cristian Dragomir and David "Chino" Rheem. The flop ran out 1052. All three players checked to the turn, which brought the 3. Dragomir fired out a bet, pushing Davis out of the hand. Rheem made the call, and Dragomir checked the river, the 5. Rheem bet out 240,000, and Dragomir made the call, but threw his cards into the muck after Rheem turned over the KQ for the rivered flush.
Nobody Wants to Play with Mikey
For a guy who just shoved with suited 10-5, Mike Matusow has been having a hard time getting any action at the ESPN feature table. Here's a look at a day of poker with the Mouth:
Owen Crowe raised to 66,000 from the cutoff. From the button, Mike Matusow then reraised to 201,000 total. Everyone folded, and Matusow flipped over pocket kings.
Later in the round, Matusow raised to 82,000 preflop. Everyone folded again, and Matusow flipped over pocket jacks.
Later in the round, Matusow raised from the button to 77,000. The players in the blinds, including Phil Hellmuth, folded once again. This time Matusow flipped over A-K. He was unable to find any more action this evening, ending the day with around 1.2 million.
Phe Phi Pho Phum
Cristian Dragomir raised preflop to 82,000, and only Phi Nguyen made the call. The flop came QJ3, and both players checked to the turn, which brought the 7. Nguyen led out for 110,000. Dragomir then raised to 300,000, only to have Nguyen move all in. Dragomir tanked for some time before making the laydown.

Hellmuth Can Dodge Mullets, Baby!
Following a flop of 654, Phil Hellmuth and Barry Leventhal checked and the button bet 75,000. Hellmuth made the call and then Leventhal moved all in for an additional 399,000. The button folded and then the action was on Hellmuth, who had Leventhal covered by only 100,000 or so. While Hellmuth debated a call, Leventhal, a large man with a mullet and a heavy Brooklyn accent, talked nonstop. He even shouted out, "Honey, I'm all in," which Hellmuth had done to his wife just a short time earlier. Hellmuth even flashed his cards to Gus Hansen when he walked by. Finally he folded Q7 face up, shocking the players at his table and players at other tables who had stopped by to watch.
Keller Cracks Aces
Thomas Keller didn’t realize how thin he was drawing, but he still managed to get the best of Alan Gould. Keller was all-in for 160,000 with K10, but found himself up against pocket aces. He was then up against a set when the flop came A63. But the Q on the turn gave Keller four outs, and the J on the river proved to be one of them, as Keller filled his straight and remained alive in the tourney.
Kings for Karle
It must have been music to Karle Wilson’s ears. James Mills announced all-in for 210,000, and two players to the left, Wilson woke up with KK. He made the call and everyone else folded. Mills held 88, but he was even further behind after the flop came KQ10, giving Wilson a set. The 4 on the turn and 6 on the river completed the board and Mills was sent to the rails.
Vos Draws to a Winner
Mark Vos was in the cut-off and raised to 32,000, and was called by Cornel Pazai in the big blind. The flop came QJ5, and after Pazai checked, Vos bet 40,000. Pazai then check-raised to 80,000 total, at which point Vos sent a two-fisted stack of orange chips to the center of the table to force Pazai all-in. Pazai did make the decision for about 250,000 and showed J9 for middle pair. Vos tabled K2 for the flush draw, and filled it on the turn with the 8. The 3 on the river ended the day for Pazai.
Chino Rheem’s Check and Raise Takes One Away from Buzgon
Dan Buzgon open raised to a total of 34,000 after the action folded to him in the cut-off. Christian Dragomir called from the button, as did Chino Rheem from the big blind. The three players saw a flop of A104, and Rheem checked. Buzgon made a bet of 68,000 and Dragomir folded. Rheem check-raised an additional 121,000, and Buzgon went into the tank. Buzgon eventually released his hand, and Rheem won the pot.
Four-of-a-Kind Adds to Dragomir’s Stack
On a board of Q743, Chino Rheem checked to Christian Dragomir who fired a bet of 165,000 into the pot. Rheem made the call and the dealer put down the 4 on the river. Again Rheem checked and this time Dragomir put in a bet of 265,000. Rheem quickly called and Dragomir excitedly turned over 44 for four-of-a-kind. As the large pot was pushed to Dragomir, Rheem showed that he held pocket eights. The pot put Dragomir’s stack to over 2.8 million in chips, making him the current tournament leader.
Another Big Hit for Chino Rheem
Chino Rheem made it 32,000 to go from middle position, and the action folded to Sean Davis in the small blind. Davis made the call, and the two players saw a flop of KK4. Davis checked, allowing Rheem to make a bet of 32,000 which was called by Davis. The turn brought the K, and this time Davis led out for 100,000. Rheem announced a raise and counted out an additional 150,000. Davis made the call, and both players checked when the 10 fell on the river. Davis turned over JdJc, and Rheem mucked his cards. Rheem lost over half a million in chips during one orbit.

Sheikhan Knocks One Out, Breaks 500,000

Sheikhan Knocks One Out, Breaks 500,000

Sheikhan Knocks One Out, Breaks 500,000

Big Hands:
Vos Bounced Out
Mark Vos moved all in from the small blind for about 7,500 total. The player in the big blind woke up with 1010 and made the call. Vos turned over K5 and was in need of help. Instead, the flop decided to pound Vos into the ground when it came 1095. Vos needed running cards to win the hand. The 4 ran Vos out of the Amazon Room instead. The 3 completed the board as Vos was eliminated.
Grospellier Registers a K.O...
Bertrand Grospellier put in a raise preflop. The player in seat 4 came over the top for all of his chips. Grospellier made the call and tabled QJ. His opponent showed A4. The flop came Q97 giving Grospellier the lead. The turn was the K, taking away two outs for seat 4. He needed to hit an ace or a 4 that was not a club. The river was the 5 and seat 4 was vacant. But that would soon change. Grospellier was around 120,000.
...Enter Shannon Shorr
Shannon Shorr made his way to the unoccupied seat 4 at Grospellier's table and the two tangled quickly. Shorr raised to 3,500 before the flop and the player in seat 5 called. Action folded around to Grospellier who repopped it to 11,500. Action was back on Shorr and he put his stamp on the pot, reraising another 35,000. Seat 5 ducked out and Grospellier laid down his hand as well. Shorr increased his stack to around 130,000.
Griffin Sent to the Rail
Gavin Griffin raised to 3,300 preflop. The player in seat 3 reraised to 12,000 total. Action came back to Griffin who made the call. The flop came Q85. Seat 3 led out with 18,000 and Griffin moved all in for 44,000 more. Seat 3 went into the tank, finally deciding to call and tabled AQ for top pair, top kicker. Griffin showed A8 for second pair and had one foot out the door. The Q on the turn gave Griffin a swift kick to his backside, escorting him to the rail. The river was the 10, not that it mattered.

Hands and Storylines:
Fricke gobbles up more chips
With the board J-T-7-8-K, Jimme Fricke made a large bet of 3,050. His opponent thought about whether to make the call for over. He kept looking at Fricke hoping for any clues, but Fricke was enjoying his massage and not offering any help. Finally he made the call and Fricke showed Q-9 for a king-high straight. After the hand Fricke had about 20,000 chips.
Antonio wins battle of blinds
Antonio Esfandiari, in the big blind, raised the small blinds bet of 425 to 1,050 on a flop a of 8-7-7. A six came on the turn, and Esfandiari made a bet of 1,700 after the small blind checked. He eventually folded, and Esfandiari was up to about 14,000 chips to end the level.
A Pro Play
A pair of preflop raises left play heads-up between the big blind and Mark Vos. The flop came A53, and when the Q hit the turn, the big blind checked again and Vos bet 1500. The blind called, to see the K on the river. The big blind checked, and Vos, listening to some sort of sixth sense, checked as well. He showed pocket queens for a set hit on the turn, but learned the big blind had pocket kings and rivered a better set.
Liebert Dodges Big Trouble
Kathy Liebert made the initial raise to 300, and the button called. The big blind then reraised to 1000 and Liebert folded while the button called. After a flop of 986, the big blind bet 1000 and was raised to 2000 by the button. The big blind bet 2000 when the A hit the turn, and was then raised all-in by the button, who showed pocket eights for a set. The big blind held pocket jacks and went broke on the hand.
