Gavin Griffin was born in Darien, Illinois on August 28, 1981. At such a young age, Griffin is a seasoned pro with the most prestigious poker titles already under his belt.
He began playing poker the summer of his freshman year at Texas Christian University with his friends in a home game. He learned to become a better player through online forums and books. During his fourth year in college, Griffin began a job as a dealer for a private poker room in Arlington, Texas. When off duty, he honed his game by playing the small stakes games. He quit school that year to turn professional.
His first summer as a pro grinder, Griffin played in the 2004 World Series of Poker. He won the $3,000 buy-in pot-limit event and briefly held the record of youngest bracelet winner ever. He continued to accumulate tournament winnings and made history again by winning the European Poker Tour Grand Final Championship which boasted the biggest prize pool in EPT history. He took home a little more than $2.4 million. As if that weren't enough, Griffin continued his quest for major titles. At the 2008 World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Classic, Griffin snagged a triple-crown by winning the coveted WPT title and the $1.4 million first-place prize. Griffin is a member of Team PokerStars Pro.
