First No-Limit Hold'em Event Begins Saturday
May 29, '08
The first $1,500 buy-in no-limit hold'em event at the 39th World Series of Poker begins on Saturday, and if the past provides any indication of the future this will be a wild one. In 2007 a large field was in the mix as 2,998 players were after the $727,012 first-place prize. Ciaran O'Leary eventually won the event by beating the final table in dramatic fashion.
Action will begin in Event No. 2 on Saturday, May 31, and cards will get into the air at noon for day 1A. Day 1B will follow suit on Sunday, June 1 and both fields will play 10 levels on their respective day-one flight. The field will combine on day 2 (Monday, June 2), and the final table will take place on Tuesday, June 3.
