Alex Jacob Wins Pot, Busts Opponent
Alex Jacob: K108J
Opponent: 10242
Alex Jacob and a short-stacked opponent went to fourth street with a K and 10 showing respectively. On fourth street, Jacob bet and his opponent called, leaving himself only 525 behind. Jacob bet again on 6th street and the other player contemplated for a while, picked up his final few chips and said, “What am I going to do with these anyway?” He tossed them in for the call, but would regret it almost immediately. After 7th street was dealt, Jacob showed (A)(Q)(J) for the straight. The pot gives Jacob 5,200 early on day 1.
Small But Important Pot Gives Ferguson Some Breathing Room
Chris Ferguson: A538
Opponent: Q64A
Ferguson completed on third street and his opponent raised. Ferguson made the call and the two players saw fourth street. On fourth street Ferguson checked and his opponent bet. Ferguson made the call. On fifth street Ferguson again checked, and his opponent put in the last of his chips. Ferguson made the call and the two turned over:
Ferguson: (K)(K)A538
Opponent: (J)(10)Q64A
Ferguson’s opponent said, “Well, I started out okay,” as he flipped over his cards. His river card was the 7 and he was eliminated mid-way through level 3. This pot, though not particularly large, was important for Ferguson as it represented a sizeable portion of his stack. He now sits with 2,600 in chips.

Andy Bloch Gets Set-up
Andy Bloch: A5JK
Opponent: QJQ8
A player completed to 100 and Andy Bloch raised to 200. The player called and each player was dealt a fourth card. Bloch bet out and his opponent called. The hand switched gears when the opposing player was given a pair of open queens. As a result, he bet out on the final three streets, getting called all the way down by Bloch. Bloch’s showed his set when he flipped over his Q and that was good enough to win the pot. Bloch’s stack took a bit of a hit and now he has 3,000.

Big Hands:
"And the roller coaster continues," Katz Eliminates Chan in 27th Place ($20,241)
Adam Katz, AKA Akat11, was sitting in the big blind when the short-stacked Feming Chan him pushed all in from the small blind. Katz looked down and saw 99 and made the call. The small blind turned over AK and Katz was shocked saying, "Wow, is this for real?" He said he didn't expect both short stacks at the table to both be in the blinds with actual hands.
The board ran 8747J, giving Katz the pot. After the chips were counted, it was learned that Katz had his opponent outchipped, so the player was eliminated. While stacking his new chips Katz said, "And the roller coaster continues."
The roller coaster ended before the round could, as Katz was later eliminated.
Broadway Sends Markovits Packing
A short-stacked Adam Markovits moved all in and was called by Sunny Chattha. Markovits' A4 was behind Chattha's AJ until the flop brought K4K to pair Markovits' 4. The turn card made things interesting, bringing the Q to give Chattha more outs. The river was the 10, completing Chattha's runner-runner straight to eliminate Markovits.
Sundbo Climbs, Eliminates McCabe
Sean McCabe's all in preflop raise was called by Sverre Sundbo, who held 99. McCabe had two overs, AJ. The board ran 107673 and McCabe was eliminated, while Sundbo moved up to around 700,000.
Lou Esposito Busts in 28th Place ($16,024)
Lou Esposito moved all in with pocket 10s and was called by Ryan D'Angelo, who held K-9. The flop brought a king and Esposito was eliminated from the tournament in twenty-eigth place.

Pot-Limit Hold'em - Level 10
Jun 02, '08
Blinds: 600/1200
Players Left: 72
Average Stack: $29,301
Big Hands:
Katz Loves Canine (K-9)
Katz is a show-stopper on Broadway, and pretty popular in Las Vegas, after hand-for-hand play with 73 players remaining began with 24 minutes left on the clock. Mike Katz gave everybody -- except one -- the ninth-live they so desperately wanted. A short-stack moved all-in from middle position for 3,900, and play was folded to Katz on the button. "I decided to be a hero," said Katz, who held K-9. "I almosts played it blind." The all-in player showed the K5, and both players missed on the flop of Ace-6-3. After a King fell on the turn, the possibility of a chopped pot came to life, but the river was a brick to end the drama.
Esposito shoots and scores
Lou Esposito picked a fine time to score some damage as play wound down in the final level of the day. With 9,600 in the pot, Esposito found himself up against Dennis Walmsley, one of the chip leaders much of the evening. After a flop of 932, Walmsley made a pot-sized bet. Esposito, in the small blind, check-raised for 11,900 more, which Walmsley called to create a pot of 53,600. Walmsley showed the QQ while Esposito revealed pocket 3s for a set to take his place among the leaders while crippling Walmsley.
Philip Yeh Adds to Lead
Yeh added to his chip lead late in the level, raising to 3,200 from the button and inducing a call from the small blind. The flop came down 765, and the small blind checked and called a 4,500 bet from Yeh. The turn brought the 2, and another check -all, this to the tune of 8,500. With the pot at 33,600, the 3 on the river brought another check from the small blind, which allowed Yeh to bet 15,000 and produce the fold that allowed him to scoop the pot.
Brian Miller Turns a Winner
Brian Miller continued to make his late charge with a monster victory of a 52,000 pot. There was 23,000 in the pot after the flop of A63, and the 10 on the turn. After the river brought the 7, Miller made a 14,500 bet. His opponent obviously wasn't a believer, but a call would only leave him with 5,800 in chips. But the call came and Miller showed him the 1010 for a set spiked on the turn.
