Alan Goehring Knocks Out David Sands Because Of Harry CullenJul 17, '17 Here’s a weird one for the first level of the day. David Sands raised to 400 from under-the-gun, and was called on his immediate left by Harry Cullen. The action folded around to Alan Goehring, and he reraised to 2,000 from the small blind. The big blind folded, and Sands decided to just make the call. Cullen then threw in a call, except he did it with too many chips. As a result, the floor was called over to make a ruling. Because Cullen didn’t verbalize a call, and his extra chips amounted to more than half of the raise amount, he was ordered to min-raise to 3,600. Cullen reluctantly went along with the ruling, and Goehring called the 3,600. Sensing an opportunity, Sands then moved all-in for his last 16,000 or so. The action went back to Cullen, who said, “I still don’t understand why I had to put in more chips.” Eventually he folded, and Goehring quickly made the call, having Sands covered. Sands showed AK, and was racing against the QQ of Goerhing. The board ran out Q9784 and Sands quickly headed towards the registration desk for a rebuy. “I had 9-10 suited,” said Cullen, pointing out that he would have turned a straight draw. Goehring now sits with 52,000 in chips. Sands has since retaken a seat in the tournament, ironically at the same table. In fact, he is still seated on Cullen’s immediate right in a previously vacant seat. All the money went in preflop with Sands holding Q-Q and Charania, who won a bracelet this summer to complete the poker Triple Crown, tabling J-J. The board ran out 10-6-2-3-A to give Sands the pot. Player Tags: David Sands, Mohsin Charania David Sands Eliminates Roman ValersteinJul 20, '17 Roman Valerstein was all-in pre-flop with the 1010. Unfortunately for him he ran into the QQ of David Sands. The board ran out 77666 and Sand’s queens held to earn him the knockout. He now sits with over 355,000. Player Tags: David Sands David Sands Eliminated By Bobby SuerJul 21, '17 On a flop of 865, Bobby Suer bet 65,000 and David Sands moved all-in for 417,000. Suer thought it over for a bit before calling with QQ, and Sands showed A7 for a straight draw. The turn and river fell QA and Suer’s set was good. Sands was eliminated and Suer now has 1,500,000. Player Tags: David Sands, Bobby Suer David Sands, Dan DiZenzo Find DoublesJul 21, '17 We’re having some trouble losing our 20th place finisher, as both David Sands and Dan DiZenzo found double ups on different tables. Sands was able to secure his thanks to flopping top pair and holding against Fabian Ortiz who had a flush draw. Player Tags: David Sands, Daniel Dizenzo David Sands Spikes The River To Double UpJul 21, '17 Yan Shing Tsang raised to 31,000 and David Sands moved all in for 231,000 from the small blind. The board fell 101042 and just as Sands began to push his stack over to Shing, the K spiked on the river, giving him a double up to about 485,000. Player Tags: David Sands, Yan Shing Tsang |
