Kenny Hsiung Wins Event no. 48 ($165,205)Jun 29, '12 Level: 28 Blinds: 25,000-50,000 Kenny Hsiung Wins Event no. 48 ($165,205) The chip counts were virtually even heading into the final level of play, but the big stack was traded back and forth a bit before Kenny Hsiung regained the chip lead for the final time. Hsiung had Hwang down to just 250,000 on the final and of the night. Kenny hsiung opened the button for 100,000 and Robert Hwang called from the big blind. The flop came J87, Hwang checked, Hsiung bet 50,000, Hwang raised to 100,000, Hsiung three-bet to 150,000 and Hwang called. The turn was the Q, and Hwang got it all in. Hsiung was ahead on the turn when the money went in with K9 for king-high against Hwang’s straight draw with 65. The river was the Q, offering no help to Robert Hwang who was eliminated in 2nd place ($102,118). Hwang won a big showdown this past level with full house that put him in the lead with about 1.2 million as Hsiung fell down to the short stack with just over 1 million. Hwang further extend his lead towards the end of the level, claiming a more than 4:1 chip lead over Hsiung before Hsiung mounted a comeback that would put him back in contention as the level came to an end. Hsiung doubled up at the end of the level after getting it all in on the turn on a board of J1069 with 109 for two pair against Hwang’s top pair with AJ. The river was the 2 and Hsiung doubled up to just over 900,00 that hand, narrowing the gap with Hwang. Kyle Ray – 643,000 Notable Eliminations: Greg DeBora Big Hands: Greg DeBora Bubbles Level 17 continued on until the bubble popped, and this was the last hand of that level. Simon Morris raised from the button and Greg DeBora put his last 25,000 in from the big blind. Morris held the 75, but needed help against DeBora’s A3. The board ran out 721066, giving Morris a pair of sevens and the pot. Now all 18 players remaining are guaranteed a payday of $22,809. Kenny Hsiung Eliminated It was a classic race situation when Kenny Hsiung got his last chips into the middle preflop with 1010 against Jameson Painter’s AK. Painter won the race as the board ran out 4433K and Hsiung was eliminated in 18th place, with a parting gift of $22,809. Gianluca Marcucci Eliminated Gianluca Marcucci raised under-the-gun and Jameson Painter three-bet from the big blind. Marcucci committed the last of his chips and showed K9 and was up against Painter’s AQ. The board ran out Q84J4, giving the pot to Painter and send Marcucci home. Marcucci left $22,809 richer. Matthew Gallin Eliminated Matthew Gallin raised preflop and was reraised by Brock Parker. Gallin moved all in for a fourth bet and Parker called. Parker was in bad shape when he saw that Gallin had KQ and Parker held K10. The flop came J6Q, giving Gallin top pair, but Parker a straight draw. The turn was a blank, the 6, but the 9 on the river gave Parker the nut straight and the pot. They were off to the races as Reed showed AK and was up against the 66 of Idema. The board ran out 5310J10, which you will notice does not contain an ace or a king, meaning the sixes hold up and Reed is eliminated in 20th place. Hand for hand play will take place until we lose one more player and are officially in the money. Aces for Keikoan Simon Morris raised and Matt Keikoan three-bet, which was called by Morris. The flop came 8QK and both players checked. The turn was the 4 and Morris bet and was called by Keikoan. The 2 river brought the same action and Morris turned up K10, good for top pair, but Keikoan showed AA, and would take the pot and increase his stack to 190,000. Morris dropped to 170,000. DeBora Hanging On For Dear Life A severely short stacked Greg DeBora got all of his chips in the middle preflop and was called by Jameson Painter. DeBora held pocket nines and Painter held the J5. DeBora’s hand held up and he doubled up to 55,000. Gallin’s Kings Keep Him From Being the Bubble Boy Matthew Gallin raised and Kenny Hsiung three-bet. Gallin committed the rest of his chips with a call. Gallin held KK and Hsiung held the 44. The board ran out AQ822, keeping Gallin in the tournament for the time being.
