Leif Force Wins Event no. 3 ($207,708)May 31, '12 Leif Force Wins Event no. 3 ($207,708) The players began the PLO portion of the round in Level 4 with nearly even stacks. Leif Force found a quick double up after three-betting to 260,000 before the flop and getting a call from Jason Koon. The flop came 862, Force shoved and Koon called all in (he was slightly covered). Koon led the flop with 7643 for middle pair and a straight draw against Force’s bottom pair and over cards with AQ92. The turn and river were the 10 and the A, giving Force top pair on the river to bust Koon’s second leg, forcing him to cash in his final lammer. Koon was down to his last leg when he called all in on a flop of 875. Koon led the flop with 10985 for two pair against Force’s single pair with AJK8. The turn and river were the 10 and the Q, giving Force a backdoor flush to win the pot and eliminate Jason Koon in 2nd place ($128,660). Leif Force wins Event no.3, the $207,708 grand prize, and third gold bracelet of the 2012 WSOP. The board came 1087AJ, offering no help to either player as Force’s queen high held to win the pot. Leif Forced to Cash in First Lammer While Lief Force seemed to get the best of Jason Koon during the PLO portion of the last hour, it was Jason Koon who was able to gain some ground during the last NLH round. Koon cashed in his first lamer at the start of the level while Force busted his first leg as the level closed and the stacks evened out with both players down to one lamer each. Koon got off to a slow start this afternoon, cashing in his first lamer after losing most of his starting stack to Simeon Naydenov after four-betting a rag flop only to be forced to fold after Naydenov shoved over the top. This hand left Koon short and he decided to chip himself up. Shortly after, Koon took down a big pot that went to the river after turning trip jacks. PLH Leif Force vs. Julian Powell Julian Powell was the next player to cash in a second lammer, but he did it during the PLO portion of play. Powell got the last of his chips in on the turn with two pair and a gunshot straight draw while Leif Force had already flopped the nut straight. Powell was drawing to a chop and bricked when the river blanked. This hand put force out in front with a 2:1 chip lead (chips in play) and Powell down to one lammer while Force still had both of his. NLH Jason Koon vs. Simeon Naydenov Simeon Naydenov min-raised the button to 32,000, Jason Koon three-bet to 80,000 from the big blind and Naydenov called. The flop came K104, Koon bet 84,000, Naydenov moved all in and Koon called. Koon led on the flop with K8 for top pair against Naydenov’s middle pair with 105. The turn and river were the 3 and 4, offering no help to Naydenov as Koon doubled up to take the chip lead. Naydenov cashed in his final two lammers after the hand. Jason Koon defeated Annette Obrestad in the first match of the day, followed by Simeon Naydenov scoring a win over David Benefield. These two players will face each other in the semi-finals alongside Leif Force who defeated Andy Frankenberger in his quarter-finals match and Julian Powell who triumphed over Gregg Merkow. While eight players began the day, only four survive, and they have all advanced to the semi-finals round which consists of a single match of heads-up play. The winners from each match will face each other in the finals where one of them will walk away with the bracelet. All players will start with 1,152,000 in chips. $10,000 Main Event - Day 2B - Level 7 (Hr. 2)Jul 09, '08 Players are going on an extended 30-minute break as tournament officials now take all the 25 chips off the tables. Day 2B Players Left: 1,701 Big Hands and Storylines: Don’t Mess with the Force Play was folded around the table to the small blind, where Leif Force raised to 2300. The player in the big blind sensed a steal, so he reraised to 7000. Force then decided to prove he was serious, and made a second raise, this to 17,300. It was going to cost the big blind another 10,300 to call, with a stack of about 30,000. He elected to fold, but accidently flashed the 7 in the process. “I can beat that,” Force told him, mucking his hand. Lee uses straight flush to increase stack Late in the level Bernard Lee raised from under the gun with pocket tens and the big blind reraised all in for 20,000 more. Lee called and was up against A-K. The board came K-10-4-9-7 and Lee took the pot. Later he got involved in a pot with J7. The flop came 8-8-7 with the 8 and Lee called a 1,000 bet. He called another bet when the T came on the turn, and then the 9 came on the river, giving him a straight flush. Lee made a 2,100 bet and got a call and the pot. At the break Lee was up to 70,000 chips. Ng Adds to Chip Count Evelyn Ng was in the small blind and called a raise from a player in late position. The flop came 1055, and after Ng checked, she called a 5000 bet. Both players checked when the 2 fell on the river, then Ng led out for another 5000 when the 2 double-paired the board on the river. Her opponent called, but trailed with his 66, and Ng was holding 77. Preflop, Men Nguyen made a reraise of 12,000 and was called. Then on a J76 flop he check-raised all in for about 40,000. He called an his opponent flipped over two kings. "I'm freerolling. Give me two diamonds," Nguyen announced before flipping over a pair of kings with the K. But the turn was a heart, chopping the roughly 120,000-chip pot. Childs Takes a Hit Nenad Medic raised to 1800 from the cut-off and Lee Childs called from the big blind. The flop came Q97 and after Childs checked Medic checked behind him. The 5 came on the turn and Childs stabbed at the pot with a 2500 bet. Medic made the call. The 10 was the river card and Childs checked. Medic then moved out 5000, and Childs reluctantly made the call. Medic showed Q8 for top pair, and Childs mucked. He lost almost half his stack in the hand, now with 11,800 in front of him. Nedic has been joined at the table by fellow Canadian Isabelle Mercier. Matusow Takes Small Pot Mike Matusow was in the big blind, after checked after the player in the cut-off limped for 600. The flop came 742and both players checked. The 3 came on the turn and Matusow bet 1500, which drew a call. The 6 came on the river and Matusow bet 2400. His opponent folded and Matusow improved to about 55,000 in chips. Esfandiari Decides To Gamble Facing an all-in preflop from a short stack, Antonio Esfandiari decided to talk out his options with his opponent. "Should I gamble with you?" After chatting for a few minutes, Esfandiari was reconsidering his original read. "I was gonna insta-call, but then you started talking." After a while, however, Esfandiari threw in the call and said, "Lets gamble." His Q 10 was behind his opponents A 3, but with two live cards Esfandiari was far from crushed. The board came down K Q 9 2 3 and Esfandiari's queens sent his opponent to the rail and brought Esfandiari back above the starting stack. Crabs Win It For Negreanu In early middle position Team www.pokerstars.com member Daniel Negreanu raised to $1,500 and got called by three other players, including the big blind. The flop brought the J 4 3 and the big blind bet $3,000. Negreanu called, and the two players behind folded. The turn brought the 9 and the big blind bet $10,000. Negreanu stared his opponent down, and also snuck a peek at his stack of $5,000 orange chips before calling. The turn brought the 6 and the big blind bet $20,000. Negreanu rolled up his sleeves and told his table, "This is going to take a sec." While again staring into the soul of his opponent he gave his assesment of the situation. "You don't look scared at all." After measuring his opponents reaction, Negreanu said, "Well, I guess that's because you don't know what I have." He then called the $20,000, and when his opponent revealed J 9 Negreanu confidently turned over the 3 3. Negreanu's set took down the $43,000 pot and brought him up to around $50,000 in chips. The Wrath Of Kahn PokerStars Supernova Haved "RainKahn" Kahn was seated at the ESPN featured table with Daniel Alaei for the last hour and a half of the night. In that short span he was involved in a number of big pots, and sent a few opponents to the rail. The ruckus at the featured table was heard from across the room as Kahn got all-in with Q Q against his opponents pocket aces only to have the board bring the Q Q 8. The 5 on the turn meant his opponent was drawing dead, and Kahn doubled to roughly $940,000. He later eliminated another opponent with A J against two fours with a board of A 7 6 K Q. Kahn even won a decently sized pot against Daniel Alaei without showdown. Tran Dodges Flush Mimi Tran raised from middle position to $18,000, Nick Binger called from the cutoff, the player in seat No. 9 called from the button, and the player in seat No. 2 called from the big blind. Seat four pushes all in with AQ, and seat six folds. Hamby rolls over AA, and takes down a massive pot. Noah Schwartz has taken credit for the success, because earlier Hamby has rubbed his Star of David for good luck. The Camera's Aren't Just For You Seated with Hamby was Tobey Maguire and Humberto Brenes. That obviously lead to a plethora of ESPN cameras at the table, but Brenes wasn't sure why. When Hamby told him that Maguire was a move star, He half jokingly whispered to Cardplayer.com, "That is why all the cameras are here, I though they were for me." Humberto immediately began to ham it up with Maguire and Jared Hamby said,"Your Poker Famous, Poker Famous is good, but he's actually famous." Apparently The Force Was Not With Him Leif Force was eliminated after getting all-in with J-J against A-A and failing to get any help from the board. The turn card was the 2, Tran checked and the player in seat No. 9 moved all in. Tran showed her pocket Jacks as she folded, and her opponent graciously showed her the A 10 as he folded. The Waco Kidd Cometh A player in seat four raises to $25,000 and is flat called by seat six. It is folded to Jared Hamby and he says, "One time dealer!", as he looks at his cards then he immediately moves all in for $98,000. Both players call and the flop comes AQ4.
