Pamela Brunson Bio

Pamela Brunson may be the daughter of legendary poker professional Doyle Brunson and sister to high-stakes player Todd Brunson, but she is quickly moving out of the shadows and making a name for herself in the poker industry. At first, it did not seem as though poker would be her path in life. She was born on Sept. 4, 1964 in Fort Worth, Texas. At age nine, she moved to Las Vegas with her family. Growing up, Pamela was a competitive horseback rider and enjoyed a normal childhood.

As she grew older, Brunson eventually learned the game that had allowed her father to support their family for so long. After she graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a bachelor?s degree in sociology, she played poker for a living for three years. At that time, poker was not as widely accepted as it is now and even less acceptable for women. Brunson decided that she wanted to pursue a different career and took a job as a front desk receptionist for a retirement home in Southern California. Her passion to help people and drive to succeed led her up the corporate ladder. She was promoted to accounting manager, then to marketing director, and last, to executive director where she was in charge of some of the most prestigious retirement communities in the country.

Eventually, Brunson moved back to Las Vegas and began investing in real estate. She began playing poker again more seriously, as well. After much success playing online tournaments at Doyle?s Room, she decided to try live tournaments. She cashed in two events at the 2007 World Series of Poker including the main event, in which she outlasted both Todd and Doyle. Then at the 2007 Legends of Poker ladies tournament, she snagged her first major tournament win. Brunson took home more than $44,000, a seat into the $10,000 main event, and a coveted spot in the annual World Poker Tour Ladies Night Out Invitational.

Brunson says that her parents are now very supportive of her poker career. She hopes to give much more focus on no-limit tournaments in the future.
