Known as "TheWacoKidd" to the online poker community, Jared Hamby was born on March 10, 1982 in Elkhart, Indiana. He moved to Waco, Texas where he began playing mixed poker games at the age of 13. Only three years ago did he begin playing hold'em. He started playing low stakes limit online and built his bankroll. After a couple years at Baylor University, Hamby decided to make poker his career.
He quickly gained success in live tournaments. In 2007, Hamby has taken down three World Poker Tour preliminary events. He won two no-limit events at the Five Star World Poker Classic and another at the Mirage Poker Showdown. Then, at the WPT Mandalay Bay Poker Championship, he made a run at a main event title but finished runner up. He has nearly $1.3 million in tournament winnings.
