Jose Luis Velador has been a professional poker player for more than a decade, playing mid-limit cash games in L.A. to support himself. Despite being mostly a cash-game player, Velador is no tournament newbie. He has been cashing in major tournaments since 2000 and has cashed in both the 2006 and 2007 World Series of Poker main events. In 2008, Velador was the last player standing out of the 2,304 that started to win his first WSOP bracelet in a $1,500 no-limit hold'em event.
Before becoming a professional poker player, Velador was a tile setter. It doesn't look like he will be returning to his former career anytime soon.
