Darvil Lives On River
Peter Darvill has been having a great time playing the short stack. Sitting at around $600,000 for most of the level, he has been slowly picking up chips by more or less pushing the all-in button. Darvil finally got called by Bjorn Erik-Glenne. Erik-Glenne had the lead with Q Q against Darvil held A K. Darvil found more hope with the 10 7 3 flop. The turn was an innocuous 4, but the river was the J, doubling Darvil over $1.2 million, and sending him to the rail to celebrate with his friends.
Huck Slipping
With the board reading A Q 4 5, The player in seat No. 8 raised to $60,000, Huck Seed raised to $260,000, Bill Edler reraised to $560,000, seat No. 8 folded, and Seed went into the tank. Seed said, “You probably had the best hand the whole way,” and he folded A 4 face up. Seed has had several bluffs picked off in the last part of the level, and his chipstack has fallen well below the average.
No Umbrella For Chark
Humberto Brenes raised from middle position at ESPN’s feature table, and Hevad “RaiNKhaN” Khan reraised from the big blind. Brenes moved all in, and Khan quickly called. Brenes held A K and Khan had him crushed with A Ax. The flop was King-high, but with all spades. The turn and river failed to produce another King, and Brenes was busted in 83rd place. He received one of the loudest ovations yet.
Chop?
With the elimination of the 82nd place player it was announced that the payout level had finally reached $100,000. The tournament director then jokingly offered to chop the remainder of the prize pool with the 81 players, to which several of the players seemed receptive. Don’t think it’ll happen anytime soon though.
There are currently 79 players remaining.
