Day Two Ends
Jun 02, '07
Day two of the Mixed Hold'em event has ended and the final nine players are set. The table has a nice mix of well established live pros, online players and unknowns. Live pros Kirk Morrison and Greg Mueller have made it, as well as online players Jon "Pearljammer" Turner and Steve Paul Ambrose.
The final table was created when Steve Buchanan was eliminated in 11th place by Fred Berger. Buchanan had quite a crowd railing him, and it was clear that some had been over-served at their watering hole of choice. However he handled himself professionally through his last hand. Buchanan raised to $40,000 and Fred Burger called. The flop came K

, Berger bet $20,000 and Buchanan raised to $40,000. Berger just called and the turn came 10
. Berger checked, Buchanan bet and Berger put him all in. Buchanan made the call with A

, but was behind Berger's A
J
. The river bricked and the final table was set.
The final table played very tight and it was clear every player wanted to make the TV bubble. The final nine was almost set, but Kenny Tran made a great laydown to stay alive. Jon Turner raised to $38,000 under the guy and Kenny Tran reraised $98,000 more. Fred Berger moved all in with Tran covered, and Turner folded. Tran went into the tank for several minutes, his tournament life at stake. He finally tossed his hand into the muck, and Berger tabled A-A. Tran then dove into the much and retrieved his hand, Q-Q. Unfortunately for Tran, the great laydown was not enough to save him from being eliminated 10th and ending day two. On a flop of K

during the $30,000-$60,000 limit level, Kenny Tran checked and Steve Paul Ambrose bet $30,000. Phan check raised to $60,000 and Ambrose reraised to $90,000. Tran made the call and the turn was the A
. Tran checked again, Ambrose bet $60,000 and Tran called. The river was the 2
