After a raise to 700, Kara Scott three-bet all in for 3,300 and was called. Scott tabled A3 and was way behind her opponent’s AK. There were no spades or threes for Scott and the table was not happy to see her go. “Nobody was rooting for you, seat 10,” said a player at the table. Cada Eliminated in First WSOP Event Since Main Event Title Joe Cada got the last of his short stack in prefop with KJ and was up against A9. The board bricked out for Cada and was sent home earlier than he would have liked. Slim Just Keeps Chugging Along The board on the turn read K6J8 and Amarillo “Slim” Preston made a bet and was called by his opponent. The river was the 6 and both players checked. “I needed a spade,” said Slim’s opponent who mucked when Slim showed the AK. Preston is among the chip leaders with about 35,000. Little Left With Little After a limp under the gun, Jonathan Little raised to 1,000. The limper the shoved all-in for 2,450 and was called by Little. The limper showed AK and was way ahead of Little’s AJ. The board didn’t improve Little in the slightest and was left with 5,000 at the end of the hand. Erica Schoenberg Misses a lot of Outs With about 4,500 to start the hand, Erica Schoenberg called an all-in bet of an opponent on a board of 955 from the small blind with the Q8. Her opponent tabled the A6. The board bricked out for Schoenberg with the 2 and 4. She is now at 2,950. Left in the Deck No official chip counts yet, but the chip leader at the moment appears to be Amarillo Slim with about 35,000. Player Tags: Jonathan Little, Erica Schoenberg, Thomas Preston Level 11 Update: Amarillo Slim and Vanessa Rousso EliminatedMay 31, '10 Blinds: 500-1,000 with a 100 ante Players Remaining: 409 out of 4,345 Average Chip Count: 31,090 Tournament Leaderboard: 1. Braxton Dunaway — 139,000 Notable Eliminations: Amarillo “Slim” Preston Card Player Chip Counts: Jon Friedberg – 30,000 Big Hands: Slim Sent Home Early After a bunch of folds, Amarillo “Slim” Preston raised to 3,000 from the cutoff. Nick Chlebeck then three-bet from the small blind to 8,500 and Preston eventually made the call. The flop fell 346 and Preston tried to move all-in out of turn. Once he was told that the action was on Chlebeck, Chlebeck checked and Preston put out a couple stacks of chips and in rapid succession Chlebeck moved all-in and was Preston moved all of his 30,000 into the middle. Chlebeck showed AA and Preston was in bad shape tabling the A3. The turn was the 8 and the river was the 5 giving Preston a very early exit on Day 2. Chlebeck now has about 75,000 in chips. Hamby Doubles Up Opponent, But Still Healthy It folded to the player in the cutoff, who moved his last 9,600 into the middle. Jared Hamby was in the big blind and eventually tossed in a call. Hamby tabled A5 and was behind his opponent’s A8. Hamby politely asked the dealer for a chop pot with a wry smile. Unfortunately the dealer put an 8 on the flop and Hamby was drawing dead on the turn. He still has 29,000 in chips. Ladies Aren’t Lucky for Rousso A player in middle position raised to 2,700 and Lisa Parsons raised from late position to 7,000. Vanessa Rousso then moved all in for 30,000 and the original raiser moved in for 46,600. Parsons then folds A-K face up and the other two hands were revealed. Rousso showed the QQ and was up against the KK of her opponent. The board didn’t bring a queen for Rousso and the table got a little uglier with her exit. Justin Young Puts an Opponent All In Justin Young (22,000 in chips) bet 2,500 preflop and was called by an opponent. The flop came Q104 and Young’s opponent checked. Young announced all in, having his opponent significantly covered. His opponent, with only about 12,000 in chips left, tanked before folding. Young showed the AK and took the pot to increase his stack to 26,000. Left In The Deck: The money bubble has burst and the action seems to be picking up. We should expect to see a lot of action in the next few levels. With so many bustouts and stoppages of time to manage the number of tables and players in the field, the tournament officials have put players on their 20 minute break a little early. Jul 06, '07 | 2007 38th Annual World Series of Poker | Event 55 - World Championship No-Limit Hold'em | 1 | + |
First Hour OverJul 06, '07 The first hour of the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event has come and gone. The levels for the main event are 120 minutes long, twice as long as the levels in events 1 through 54. Just one short hour into today's event tables are being broken and the field is already starting to shrink.Ten minutes into play, tournament director Jack Effel got on the loud speaker and announced, "Congratulations players, you have all outlasted one player!" The field cheered and quickly got back to business. There were officially 159 tables in play today on day 1A, putting the player count at roughly 1,590. If this pace continues for all four day ones, which it probably won't, the field size for this year's main event would be much healthier than most predicted. The first day of play in the main event is not the most popular amongst professionals and seasoned players. Most players elect to play on one of the later days to avoid some of the chaos and hype of the official first day of the tournament. That being said, there are several dozen notable players in today's field including, but not limited to: Eugene Todd, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, Thomas Wahlroos, Mel Judah, Chad "lilholdem" Batista, Joe Beevers, Marty Smyth, Teddy Sheringham, Dave Colclough, Marcel Luske, Jeff Madsen, Barry Greenstein, Josh Arieh, and Greg "FBT" Mueller. In today's field are four former World Series of Poker Main Event Champions. Doyle Brunson ('76, '77), Amarillo Slim ('72), Bobby Baldwin ('78), and Huck Seed ('96) are all in today's group of players battling to make it to day two.
