Dan Shak Eliminated
Sep 30, '09
Dan Shak spent most of the day as a short stack, but spent most of the last level battling back to a respectable 65,000 or so.
Things were looking up when he raised pocket queens under the gun and his opponent reraised. Illari Sahamies then came over the top, putting Shak all in, which he quickly obliged.
The other player got out of the way and Shak was happy to see that he was ahead of Sahamies and his A-Q. Alas, an ace hit the turn and Shak was sent packing.

Sahamies Silently Sulks
Oct 01, '09
On a 7 3 2 flop, and a pot of around 45,000, Ilari Sahamies bets 22,000 and Leo Fernandez raises to 46,000. Sahamies tanks and calls. The turn is the 10 and Fernandez moves all in. Sahamies gets a count, and the all in bet is 95,800.
Sahamies goes into the tank, and appears to be really struggling with the decision.
He thinks, and he thinks, and … he thinks. Then he takes his headphones out, sighs, and … thinks again. What must be five minutes goes by and he folds. Fernandez shows A-K and Sahamies reaches into the muck for his cards but he doesn’t get there in time. He shows a 5 but it isn’t clear whether that was the river card or one of his own. Whatever it was, it doesn’t matter as Fernandez now has some of his chips, and “Ziigmund” does not look happy.
