Retired junk bonds salesman Alan Goehring has always had a knack for getting his money in when the time is right. Now a two-time World Poker Tour champion and 1999 World Series of Poker championship runner-up, Alan Goehring is part of an elite field of players who can lay the same claim.
Goehring recently won $2,391,550 for his February 2006 LA Poker Classic victory, but does not play poker full time. Considering himself a tournament player, Goehring is well-known for playing any two cards at any point in time during a tournament. His risk-taking demeanor has netted him more than $5 million in career earnings.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but having lived all over the United States, Goehring now calls Henderson, Nevadad home. However, don't expect to see him at the local cash games as he plays only tournaments. Using poker as a recreational activity, Goehring balances a life of international travel as an investment analyst with that of a winning tournament player.
