Alan Goehring enjoyed a fast start to this tournament, but had mostly going backwards for the last couple of levels. After a recent pot, however, he is back up to six figures with about 100,000 in chips.
Scott Clements raised to 1,200 and the cutoff three-bet to 4,600. Goehring called and Clements folded. The flop was the Q 7 2 and Goehring checked.
His opponent bet 3,000 and Goehring called. The 4 hit the turn and both players checked. The river was the 5 and Goehring bet 7,000. His opponent folded, and Goehring dragged the pot.

We caught up with the action on a flop of 883 and Brian Yoon checked. The hijack checked and Goehring bet 1,000. Yoon folded and the hijack called.
The turn was the 9 and Goehring bet 1,500. His opponent called and then both players checked down the 8 on the river.
Goehring had only A3, but it beat his opponent’s busted straight draw with J-10.
Goehring has been steadily accumulating chips all day and is cruising early on in this tournament with 140,000.

 Alan Goehring raised from the cutoff and was called by the player on the button. The flop came down Q75 and Goehring continued with a bet of 700.
His opponent called and the turn was the A. Goehring bet 1,200 and was called once again. The river was the 2, putting four hearts on board, and Goehring hesitated slightly before betting 2,000.
His opponent thought it over for about 30 seconds, shaking his head, before ultimately mucking his cards. Goehring is now the first player to cross the six-figure mark, sitting with 105,000.

Raul Martinez Wins A Big One Without Showdown

 Four players saw a flop for 1,900 each of 963. Raul Martinez, who came into the hand from under-the-gun, checked.
Alan Goehring then bet 3,000 from the hijack, and the cutoff folded. Dimitar Danchev made the call from the button, as did Martinez.
The turn was the J and Martinez checked again. Goehring bet 4,000 this time, and Danchev called. Martinez then moved all-in for a total of 18,175.
After getting the count, Goehring folded. Danchev thought it over for a bit and then eventually mucked as well. Martinez now has about 43,000 in chips.

Alan Goehring Knocks Out David Sands Because Of Harry Cullen

 Here’s a weird one for the first level of the day.
David Sands raised to 400 from under-the-gun, and was called on his immediate left by Harry Cullen. The action folded around to Alan Goehring, and he reraised to 2,000 from the small blind.
The big blind folded, and Sands decided to just make the call. Cullen then threw in a call, except he did it with too many chips.
As a result, the floor was called over to make a ruling. Because Cullen didn’t verbalize a call, and his extra chips amounted to more than half of the raise amount, he was ordered to min-raise to 3,600.
Cullen reluctantly went along with the ruling, and Goehring called the 3,600. Sensing an opportunity, Sands then moved all-in for his last 16,000 or so.
The action went back to Cullen, who said, “I still don’t understand why I had to put in more chips.”
Eventually he folded, and Goehring quickly made the call, having Sands covered. Sands showed AK, and was racing against the QQ of Goerhing.
The board ran out Q9784 and Sands quickly headed towards the registration desk for a rebuy.
“I had 9-10 suited,” said Cullen, pointing out that he would have turned a straight draw.
Goehring now sits with 52,000 in chips. Sands has since retaken a seat in the tournament, ironically at the same table. In fact, he is still seated on Cullen’s immediate right in a previously vacant seat.

Daniel Negreanu Crippled Then Eliminated
On a flop of Q53 Daniel Negreanu bet 3,200. Jon Turner then check raised to 8,400 and sent Negreanu into a min-tank. After about a minute, Negreanu reraised most of his big chips and Turner called all in. Negreanu showed 53 for bottom two pair, but was almost drawing dead to Turner's top set of queens. The turn and river came 4A and Negreanu was crippled down to just a few thousand. A few hands later, he was eliminated.

Despite sitting with a 130,000 stack yesterday, Alan Goehring ran into some trouble late last night to end the day short on chips. Early this level, he was eliminated from the tournament entirely.
