Eberle Leads, Denotaristefani on the Short Stack
Despite the slow nature of a limit tournament, there has been some strong chip movement this afternoon in the early stages of the blind structure. Although the final ten players each started with a fresh stack of 450,000 and over 50 BBs, there is a large variance in the chip counts after two levels with Dale Eberle leading with 741,000 on the high end and Domenico Denotaristefani trailing with just 172,000 at the break.
Jordan rich took an early lead in the first level after rivering a straight with A – J to crack a flopped set of sixes for Domenico Denotaristefani. That hand put Rich out front with almost 600,000, and began Denotaristefani’s downward spiral. Denotaristefani lost another big pot to Dale Eberle in the second level after Eberle won a showdown with pocket aces. That hand left Denotaristefani with just over 250,000, and started Eberle’s rapid ascent up the leaderboard.
Denotaristefani continued to lose chips as the second level closed out, down to under 100,000 before tripling up over 180,000 with a set of queens towards the end of the level. While Denotaristefani was busy trying to hold on to the remains of his dwindling stack, Dale Eberle was busy adding to his, ending the level on top with 741,000.

Jason Gray Doubles Through Jordan Rich
Oct 01, '08
Jordan Rich raised to 3,500 from the cutoff and Jason Gray reraised to 8,000 from the small blind. The action folded back around to Rich who reraised to 23,000. Gray moved all in for a total of 90,600 and Rich went into the tank.
After a few minutes of thought, Rich made the call with QQ and saw the bad news. Gray held AA and the board added insult to injury when it ran out AK86A, giving Gray quad aces and a stack of over 180,000. Rich was left crippled with just 7,800.

Marco Traniello: 52,000
Vegard Nygaard: 46,100
Shawn Sheikhan: 46,000

Notable Hands:
Lederer Ships It To Zaichenko
Going to seventh street, Lederer showed AJ92 to Andrey Zaichenko's 4256. After a bet and a call on seventh, Zaichenko exposed 723 for both a straight and a 6 low, beating Lederer's pair of jacks and scooping the pot.
Giang Scoops, Gets Rich
Chau Giang took the lead in a string of betting, which ended when Jordan Rich called Giang's final bet on 7th street. Giang flipped over A243253, showing the wheel and prompting an unhappy Rich to throw his cards in the muck.
Singer Survives...Sort Of
On fifth street, David Singer showed 689, making a bet and receiving a call from the player in seat 3, who showed AQ2. Sixth brought the 7 for Singer, who made the 1,600 bet. Seat 3 went into the tank, having caught the 5. Although he seemed reluctant to do so, he finally laid mucked his cards with a "Nice hand," to Singer. Singer raked in the pot, nursing his stack up to 6,500 in chips.
The pot was not enough, however, and Singer took his leave early in the next level.
Norman Chad Not Yet Gone
Norman Chad showed 746Q going to seventh, and called all-in after receiving his final card, tabling 858 for a 4-8 straight. The hand was enough to win him the low and keep him alive, but he was unable to best Davidson Matthew's broadway straight with JA105KJQ.
Bloch Busto
Although the finer details of the exchange were not witnessed, Andy Bloch was overheard after his elimination claiming that he had made trips on fourth street. Apparently the set was not good enough to take down the pot, since Bloch and his snakeskin cowboy hat have taken their leave from the Brasilia room.
Phil Ivey has also taken his leave, and is now free to concentrate on maintaining his chip lead in the pot-limit Omaha w/ rebuys tournament.
Note: Players are now on a 20 minute break.

The next hand Traniello three bet an early position raiser and was called in two spots, by the big blind and the original raiser. The flop came down Q63 and all three players checked; the big blind led out when the 7 hit on the turn and both the raiser and Traniello folded. Traniello is now down to less than 2,000.
Jordan Richer
Jordan Rich led out on a flop of Q87, check-raised the 10 on the turn, and bet the J on the river. Rich held QQ, and, although a one card straight hit the board on the end, was still ahead of his opponent's JJ. Rich has about 9,000.
Froehlich Takes Another From McCormick
Eric Froehlich won another pot from Tom McCormick when his 85 on the big blind turned to trip fives on the flop, and quads on the turn.

On both 4th and 5th streets Rich bet out and was called by his two adversaries. The unknown again bet 5th street when he was dealt his third exposed heart; Kessler and Schulman both called. On 6th street things changed up: the unknown player checked, Schulman bet, and Kessler and the unknown both called. Then on the end the unknown checked, Schulman bet, Kessler called, and the unknown player folded. Schulman turned over (8)(8)(J) for a set of eights and Schulman took the pot.
Kessler would earn back some of those chips only a few hands later when he took a sizeable pot off of Schulman; Kessler’s rolled up aces making a set on 6th street. Kessler and Schulman each have quite respectable stacks currently: Schulman with 46,000 and Kessler with 41,000.

David Oppenheim: T2AQ
Jordan Rich: T5Q3
Oppenheim completed to 1,200 and Rich raised to 2,400; Oppenheim called. Rich lead out on 4th street with his T5 showing and Oppenheim came along. Buying an ace on 5th street, Oppenheim lead into Rich and Rich made the call. Action went check-check on 6th, and on 7th street Oppenheim again led into Rich. With only 6,500 left behind Rich thought long and hard, staring into the pot of nearly 15,000, before laying down his holding. This hand was the beginning of the end for Rich, who was eliminated only a few hands later. Oppenheim now has about 28,000 chips.

Jordan Rich Out of the Tournament in Final Moments
Apr 13, '08
When Card Player strolled by Jordan Rich's table to get a chip update, Rich only looked at us with a few green chips in his hand, all that was left of his stack, and dejectedly said, "Three outer." Rich threw his chip in in the next hand and got three callers, all of whom made it to the river. A pair of jacks was all it took to send Rich, an early chip leader in the tournament, to the rail in the closing moments of day 1B of the PokerStars.com EPT Grand Final.

Jordan Rich Takes a Hit
Apr 13, '08
Jordan Rich pulled Card Player aside to relate how he lost a chunk of his stack. A player limped in early position and another player, who he says has been opening a lot, raised to 1,500. Rich looked down at jacks and reraised to 6,000. The early-position limper shoved all in for about 11,500, folding the original raiser. Rich called, and his opponent tabled pocket queens. Rich failed to catch up, and he ended the hand with about 45,000.

Weak Aces Hold Twice for Jordan Rich
Apr 12, '08
Jordan Rich won two big pots recently holding weak aces.
In the first, he raised preflop in early position to 150 and got two callers. The flop came Q 10 2, and all three players checked. The turn was the 7, and the player in the big blind checked. Rich bet 450 and the late-position player called. The big blind folded, and the turn was the 5. Both Rich and his opponent checked, and Rich turned over A 5 for a rivered pair. His opponent turned over K-J for a flopped open-ended straight draw and mucked.
In the second, bigger hand, Rich was holding A 3 and got involved in a big pot versus Card Player Pro trainer Dani "Ansky" Stern. The flop brought three hearts, and Rich bet aggressively throughout, getting called down by Stern. Rich showed down his nut flush at the end, and Stern folded. Rich won 8,000 in the pot to make an early jump to about 26,000.
