Eliminations: 54th: Max "The Italian Pirate" Pescatori: $4,025 53th: David Chiu: $4,025 52nd: James Bord: $4,025 Players Left: 51-533 Chip Count: Soheil Shamseddin: 170,000 Scott Clements: 86,000 William Sheppard: 81,000 Wing Wong: 78,000 Cam McKinley: 75,000 James Richburg: 74,000 Shirley Rosario: 68,000 Michael Reed: 66,000 Robert Oxenberg: 63,000 Jose Paz: 63,000 Big Hands: Pescatori Out Fishing "I have no pair and no draw," said Max Pescatori, after his 2,000 chip bet on a flop of K92 was raised by a player behind. His fold left him with only 2,500 in chips. A table away John Juanda eliminated Mel Judah when his pocket aces--AAQK--tripped up on the turn. Men Nguyen was next to go, the veritable bubble boy. provoking a cheer from James Bord, who was down to just a few thousand in chips at the time. In addition to Pescatori and Bord, James Van Alstyne also had only a few thousand in chips, although Van Alstyne cracked a smile to find out he was (at least) $4,000 richer. Just two hands later Pescatori called his last few chips with ace three four eight against Stern's ace king queen three. Stern paired both the ace and king, the board stayed high, and Pescatori exited in 54th place. Juanda Ousts Chiu Only fifteen minutes after doubling up at the expense of Josh Arieh, David Chiu bit the felt after flopping the the second nut flush against John Juanda. Chiu limped from one off the cutoff seat, Juanda raised from the button, the big blind called, and Chiu called. The flop came down K86 and the action was checked to Juanda, who continuation bet. The big blind folded, Chiu raised, Juanda reraised, and Chiu capped it with his last few thousand in chips. Juanda turned over A223, while Chiu revealed Q5 x x. With no low draw, Chiu was drawing only to runners for a straight flush to split the pot, and when that miracle didn't occur, Chiu was out in 53rd place. The Man With Too Many Outs Cernuto pleaded with the dealer to fill one of his many draws--to no avail. After action before and on the flop, both players checked the turn of a K52Q board, The river paired the board, the 5, and again both players checked. Cernuto showed A734, for the nut flush draw and open ended straight draw that resulted in a hand of absolutely nothing. After the hand Cernuto was down to about 20,000 in chips. Bord Gone James Bord, exultant to have cashed in what he said was his fourth WSOP event this week, busted when his A J 3 2 paired the ace on the flop, but bricked the low on the turn and river. He was out in 52nd place.
