Big Hands:
Huang Catching Fire
Yue Huang surged up the leaderboard with a pair of consecutive wins that helped him top the 200,000 mark in chips, after beginning the day with just over 23,000. Early in level 14, Ernest Bennett raised from the button for his final 23,700 in chips and Huang made the call. Bennett held A10 while Huang showed 99. The flop came K32, followed by the 8 on the turn and J on the river to make Huang the winner.
Shortly afterwarad, Huang cashed in again. After a flop of 842, the turn brought the 2. Huang bet 20,000 and drew a call. The river was the Q. Huang moved all-in for 69,000 and received another call. Huang flipped over A10 for the flopped flush and scooped the pot.
Braband Bounced
In a battle of the blinds, Tom Braband raised and Dylan Bircheff reraised all-in. Braband made the call for 50,000 and showed ace-king offsuit. Bircheff held the 99. The flop brought the 752, but the 9 on the turn ended the suspense.
Rajkumar Crippled, Then Done
Vivek Rajkumar had moved among the chip leaders, but lost more than half his stack with 20 minutes left in the level. The chips were all-in preflop against Maria Mayrinck, who had 56,400. She showed pocket kings to Rajkumar's ace-king. The door card of the flop was the A, but behind it was the K to give Mayrinck the set. The 874 completed the board and Mayrinck doubled up.
Rajkumar was eliminated a few hands later.
Smith Takes a Hit
The player under the gun raised to 11,000 and Paul Smith made it 30,000 to play. The small blind called all-in for 14,000, while the player under the gun reraised all-in for another 45,000. Smith called and showed QQ, but he was up against the AA of the initial raiser. The board ran out 98644 and Smith fell to below 100,000 in chips.
