Big Hands:
Kathy Liebert Takes Down a Large Pot, Rockets Her Way to Leader Board
In an already large pot, Kathy Liebert checked a board of KKQ8 from her first-to-act position. Her opponent made a bet of 3,800, and Kathy asked the dealer to count down her opponent’s remaining stack. After the dealer announced that the player had around 15,000 behind the bet, Kathy nodded before gathering chips and reraising an additional 7,000. Her opponent went into the tank and deliberated for several minutes before giving up on the hand. Liebert scooped a monster pot and boosted her stack to over 100,000, becoming one of the tournament chip leaders.
David Singer Tries to Steal, Gets Caught
From his position in the hijack seat (one to the right of the cut-off), David Singer made it 3,000 to go. His opponent in the cut-off paused momentarily before reraising all in for a total of 25,000. The action folded to Singer, who almost instantly jettisoned his hand into the muck. Singer still sat comfortably with over 45,000 in chips despite the loss.
Mike Sowers Rebuilds His Stack
After the last level ran a little cold for him, Mike Sowers came back from the 20 minute break fighting and started accumulating more chips. Sowers raised pre-flop from early position and was called only by the big blind, who checked the flop of 432 flop. Sowers tossed out a bet of 4,200, and his opponent folded his hand. Sowers’ stack has grown back to around 32,000 in chips as he continues to remain aggressive.

Vengrin Puts an End to the Day
Players had just returned from a 20-minute break, when 15 minutes into level 19 the evening was concluded and the final table was decided.
Matt Vengrin created the final hand of the night with a difficult call against Alex Zaslavsky. Zaslavsky raised it to 45,000 under the gun and play was folded to Vengrin in the big blind. Vengrin raised it to 145,000, and that's when Zaslavsky moved all-in for another 216,000. It was the classic race, Vengrin's 1010 up against Zaslavsky's AK. The flop was a miss, coming 943, followed by the 3 on the turn and Q on the river.
Play had been tentative to that point, after eliminations came quickly earlier in the day. But the two most familiar names that remained -- John Phan and David Singer -- both made the cut. Filling out the final table are Alex Bolotin, Thuyen Doan, Stewart Newman, Johnny Neckar, Tony Dunst, and Sebastian Segovia.
Vengrin will begin today's final table as the chip leader. Play will begin at 2 p.m..

$3000 NL Hold'em - Level 18
Jun 16, '08
Players had about a 10 minute break as chips were racked and seats were redrawn when the field was whittled down to 10 players. They concluded the level and now are beginning a scheduled 20-minute break.
Blinds: 6000/12000 with 1000 ante
Players Left: 10 of 716
Eliminations: Linda Lee, Lee Childs.
Big Hands:
Dunst Doubles Up as Short-Stack
Tony Dunst was the short-stack as play began 10-handed, and he has shown a penchant for announcing all-in regardless of his chip count. When Alex Zaslavsky raised to 36,000 preflop, Dunst went to the well again, announcing all-in for his 107,500 in chips. Zaslavsky wasn't convinced, but reluctantly made the call and showed A6. It was bad timing as Dunst held KK. The flop came Q75, and finished with the 8 on the turn and 8 on the river and Dunst doubled up.
Phan Plays it Patient
John Phan raised to 30,000 preflop and Johnny Neckar reraised to 100,000. Phan was covered by the big stack and elected to muck his AQ.
Lee Eliminated in 11th
Linda Lee moved all-in from the button for her final 81,000 and got a call from David Singer in the small blind. Lee was dominated, her QJ up against the AQ of Singer. The flop came K95, followed by the A and A to keep SInger the winner.

Storylines/Big Hands:
For the second time since the dinner break, players have drawn new seating assignments as the field has been narrowed down to 18 players. Play will continue until the final nine are determined for the final table Tuesday.
Pattison Makes Connectors Work
Dustin Pattinson was in the small blind and limped when Doug Miranda in the big blind raised all-in for 46,000. Pattinson called and showed 87. He was up against Miranda's QJ. The flop came A76 to hit Pattinson, and the 10 only added to his outs. The 8 on the river meant Miranda was finished in 22nd place.
Sevens Work for Segovia
Sebastian Segovia was in the big blind and had already seen Lee Childs raise to 20,000 and Vincent Peraino call from the cutoff. Segovia also elected to make the call and the flop came 533. Segovia took the initiative and bet 35,000 which was enough to take the pot down.
Peraino Calls and Folds Again
David SInger raised to 20,000 and Peraino called. The flop came Q63 and SInger led out for 43,000. Peraino mucked his hand.
Phan Offers Second Chance
John Phan was in the big blind and Alex Zaslavsky was under the gun when he raised to 20,000. Phan called and the flop came 1085. Phan then check-called a 34,000 bet from Zaslavsky, and when the 4 came on the turn both players checked. The river paired the board with the 10 and Phan bet 24,000. Zavlasky released his hand, but Phan quickly swept the cards back to his opponent. "I'll give you a second chance," he offered. The dealer took the stunned Zaslavsky off the hook by declaring the hand dead.
No Lucky Sevens for Pinchot
Dale Pinchot raised all-in from early position for 71,000, and Stewart Newman reraised all-in behind him to create a heads-up battle. Pinchot tabled 77 while Newman held AA. The board ran out QJ38K and Pinchot was done.
